The many different activities keep the gameplay fresh at all times, the learning curve and difficulty level increase fairly yet challengingly, the story surprised me with several twists, even though it's essentially a typical revenge story and the game looks absolutely stunning. Ghost of Yōtei is the best sequel possible to the first installment: you can tell that Sucker Punch built upon the strengths of its predecessor, expanded upon them and simultaneously introduced new ideas to the setting, perfectly rounding out the game and making it one of the best first-party titles from PlayStation Studios in my opinion.

When I say the series is going "back to the roots" with this game I don't just mean the setting. Everything in this game feels more grounded while at the same time all aspects of the gameplay have been refined and further developed. Dying Light: The Beast delivers the familiar parcours gameplay which still works brilliantly and expands it with incredibly entertaining boss encounters & cars that you can drive through Castor Woods. The controls are unfortunately a bit clunky and somewhat overwhelming but once you've gotten used to and internalized all the button inputs you'll be running across rooftops like a pro.

Even in 2025 the two Wii classics that Nintendo is letting us experience again as ports are beyond almost all doubt and rightfully enjoy the cult status that fans attribute to them. Yes, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are still two fantastic games and I had a lot of fun with both again: the level design is clever and remains unparalleled to this day and part 2 in particular shines with an incredible number of ideas and fun bonus items. However, I still think that Nintendo's pricing policy has gone a bit too far. While you could get three games for 59.99 with Super Mario 3D All-Stars, here you have to spend 69.99 if you want both games or 39.99 each, which is a bit steep for mere ports. Especially when you consider that for the same price you could get a much more elaborate version of a classic with Metroid Prime Remastered. Nevertheless the games are fantastic and I'm happy to be able to play them in this form on the Switch and Switch 2.

I was really hoping to play a fun mini-/micro-game compilation again, one that wasn't WarioWare and could provide some short-term entertainment. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait a while longer, because this game doesn't fulfil that wish at all. Quite the opposite unfortunately. DUCK: Dangerous Ultimate Cartridge Kidnapper feels like a blatant attempt to rip off big franchises, pushing every button to appeal to fans of old retro games and then topping it all off with random internet memes, while the minigames themselves are completely unfair, poorly thought out and mostly just plain bad. Eventually I lost all hope that it might get better and that perhaps only a few of the minigames were out of place and in the end I was incredibly relieved when the credits rolled and I knew I'd never have to play this game again.

The original setting and the story written by Ryukishi07 had me really hyped for the latest installment in the Silent Hill series from the very beginning, but I was also a little worried that the gameplay might fall flat. After my first playthrough, I was delighted with the gameplay and curious to learn more about the story. After my second playthrough, it was finally clear to me that this is one of the best Silent Hill games we've had since the PlayStation 2 era. Silent Hill f takes social problems from the realities of 1960s Japan, weaves them into an abstract folklore concept, and embeds them on a carpet of spider lilies that simply wouldn't let me go.

The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land plus the Star-Crossed World add-on is definitely worth a look. The new Mouthful Mode transformations are especially impressive and gave the game some extra twists I enjoyed. The new level sections strike a good balance between the feeling of having seen the level before only to have it completely turned upside down shortly after and the technical upgrade making the game look more beautiful and fluid than ever before. The fact that the performance upgrade on Switch 2 is locked behind the purchase of the edition is the only downside but other than that, the upgrade is truly comprehensive and, in my opinion, absolutely worth the purchase and the price.

Hollow Knight: Silksong builds on the strengths of its predecessor, improving every aspect of it – be it the moveset, the enemies, the world and level design, the art direction, you name it – and delivers one of the best games of recent years for just €20, making it a more than worthy successor to Hollow Knight.

Gloomy Eyes offers a lovingly crafted and unique gameplay experience, with its 'solo coop' mechanics offering clever puzzles that never present you with tasks that are too difficult to solve. A little more polished gameplay wouldn't have been a bad thing though, especially since you're constantly having to take the same route twice with both characters again and again.

For me, Cronos: The New Dawn is by far the best Bloober Team game. But even compared to other titles in the genre, it's an incredibly well made survival horror experience that convinced me with clever ideas, a fresh setting, and compelling gameplay. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Silent Hill 2 remake, but I have to give credits to this one without any major reservations and can wholeheartedly recommend it to horror fans.

METAL EDEN is old-school shooter fun, spices up its gameplay with interesting ideas, and hooked me to the console its entire time. There's room for some improvements, but overall it's a wonderful title, and I'm already excited to see what Reikon Games will surprise us with in their next release.

Hell is Us is an incredibly exciting concept that sets itself apart from other similar action-adventures with bold decisions and an uncompromising story. The combat system, with its active reload style mechanics can be incredibly rewarding but can also punish you directly. The puzzles in the game world are all the more interesting thanks to the limited guidance and tools, and Hadea's lore and NPCs kept me hooked from start to finish.

Viewfinder is a charming puzzle game with a ton of ideas and mechanics that have continually amazed me, especially since they're so flawlessly integrated into the flow of the game. No matter how many images you place in the world or how quickly you do it the game never stutters and everything fits seamlessly into the game world. While the story attempts to convey an important and ecological message, it ultimately serves only as a solid foundation for the wonderful gameplay mechanics and in the end I just wish the game had been a bit more expansive and complex.

Luto is an exceptionally well made psychological horror experience and especially as debut game from an indie studio it's an impressive achievement. The game's pacing is neither too slow nor too fast and is truly well-crafted and some of the puzzles are really challenging. If you're willing to embrace the somewhat stripped-down gameplay, you'll find a well-written story that's not only entertaining but also emotionally engaging.

Donkey Kong Bananza demonstrates with almost cheeky ease what Nintendo'd newest console is capable of and why it's definitely worth upgrading from its predecessor. The different areas are brimming with variety, the Bananza transformations add even more chaos to the game and the platforming is incredibly fun. The real star of the game however is the manipulation of the environment: it's an incredibly satisfying and almost meditative feeling to dig, blast, and smash your way through the different levels. At the same time, Bananza looks fantastic, tells a cute story, and is, in my opinion, probably the best Donkey Kong title out there.

Compared to the first installment Death Stranding 2: On the Beach feels like a rough diamond that still went through some polishing and now shines in its full glory. Even though it lacks a few rough edges that were present before and made the game a bit more special. The game is significantly more accessible than its predecessor, which is absolutely no bad thing, and offers newcomers a chance to jump right into the game. Anyone with a PlayStation 5 at home and looking for impressive exclusives should definitely not miss the second installment of Death Stranding. But be aware that you're in for a typical Kojima game in every respect.

The worldbuilding, the performances of the actors and the story itself create a damn good symbiosis of escape room, story, and FMV serving as the perfect playground for psychological horror and making Dead Take a truly special experience. The fact that it ultimately became a video game rather than a film definitely made for the right choice of medium. Even if I would have liked a bit more gameplay when splicing the films.

Everdeep Aurora offers a retro-styled game world that's fun to immerse yourself in and a story that, while it could have done with fewer text boxes, still works well with its various endings and lovable characters. The different endings make it worth listening carefully and exploring everything attentively and the 7-8 hours you spend underground with Shell will fly by quickly.

Yakuza 0 is a fantastic experience. Boasting a captivating story, a nearly endless array of simultaneously excellent mini-games and sub-stories, and challenging battles. And nothing about that has changed in the Director's Cut. Whether the additional cutscenes were really necessary is debatable, but the Red Light Raid mode is an addition that I personally enjoyed a lot had fun times times with it during the Switch 2 launch phase.

Deliver at all Costs definitely delivers: the cars feel a bit wonky first but after a short adjustment period, you'll get the hang of it. The missions continually present you with new, absurd tasks and it's a hell of a lot of fun exploring the world and destroying it all at the same time. It's almost absurd how much you can destroy in the game, the only downside is the visuals of the game and the character models, which fortunately only become really noticeable when the game zooms in. Furthermore, the game would have benefited from slightly larger or more connected areas, waypoints, and better markers for your route, but that doesn't detract from the fact that I had quite some fun with the game.

For tech nerds and Nintendo enthusiasts, the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour should be just the thing and I'm sure even more skeptical people with a bit of curiosity can have a lot of fun with it. Of course that's assuming they know what they're getting into. For younger audiences the experience might be a bit too text-heavy and detailed and if you're not much into hardware information you might be better off choosing Mario Kart World as your first Switch 2 title. However the Welcome Tour does what it wants to achieve and does that really well and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a good time with it.
