Total Chaos originally began as a mod for the popular FPS Doom II, which first appeared on monitors in 2018. Seven years after its release, it has been released as a full-fledged game, offering an unmistakable experience full of fear, sweat, and, above all, blood. But this isn’t a cold-blooded horror game full of predictable jump scares and a meaningless narrative. This action-survival game embodies the best that psychological horror has to offer and makes the most of its potential. I could talk at length about its qualities. You have to play it yourself and see for yourself just how terrifying and tragic the story actually is.

Clifftop Games has presented the gaming community with its latest project: the adventure game Kathy Rain: Soothsayer. Her new case takes players to a fresh, spectacular setting where a dangerous serial killer is on the loose. Compared to the first installment, the developers have taken a huge step forward and learned from the vast majority of their mistakes. However, a few flaws remain, but I can overlook them, as I enjoyed this all-female adventure from start to finish. Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer isn’t just a full-fledged sequel—it’s a worthy successor that pays homage to its predecessor.

Nicholas Fouts’ project, titled ChainStaff, is a treat that fans of 2D games won’t be able to resist. The game offers everything a proper platformer should have. Thanks to its retro graphics inspired by the 1970s and 1980s, it delivers an adrenaline-fueled experience that will keep you entertained for several evenings. Although it’s a game that will often keep you entertained, its quality is undermined by its low difficulty. As the levels progress, it no longer challenges the player’s skills but instead offers the chance to relax and enjoy moments of peace and quiet. On the other hand, it offers a fresh setting with a supposedly funny story and a New Game+ mode that lets you experience three different endings. If you like wild games with a slightly offbeat style and fast pace, don’t hesitate to give ChainStaff a try. It’s exactly the kind of game that isn’t ashamed of its absurdity.

The second video game set in Middle-earth from Monolith Productions surpassed the first installment in every way. It’s no longer just mindless orc-bashing and half-hearted upgrades to the main characters’ weapons or abilities. Middle-earth: Shadow of War offers exactly what a proper RPG should have: a ton of fun and action lasting several dozen hours. Gradually, however, it turns into an annoying quest for better armor, weapons, and in-game currency to upgrade your army. It’s precisely this element that starts to get on your nerves after a while, and if you neglect it, it will catch up with you in the game’s final phase. So if you’re not a fan of endless and pointless grinding, check out the actual game ending on YouTube—otherwise, you’ll waste several long hours chasing after it. But if you enjoy the Assassin’s Creed and Batman: Arkham series, you’ll quickly and easily fall in love with this two-part series.

The game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor doesn’t revolutionize the action RPG genre, but it does offer a faithful adaptation of Tolkien’s world—albeit the one from the movies. It makes no secret of its inspiration from famous series and borrows familiar elements from them, combining them in a way that’s both functional and entertaining. The biggest draw of the first installment, featuring the Ranger Talion and the Elven smith Celebrimbor, is the original concept behind the Nemesis system. This system is the game’s main draw and gives combat a more distinctive character, making for a truly unique gaming experience.

The first installment of the dark adventure game Kathy Rain has a lot to offer. Fans of point-and-click titles and Gabriel Knight will find plenty to enjoy here. The game features countless memorable characters, breathtaking pixel art environments, and atmospheric music. Although it’s brimming with positive aspects, it’s not without its flaws. The biggest problem is the story itself, which, in the second act, rather chaotically and confusingly combines several motifs and themes that don’t always work together. The final result is definitely not a disappointment, and if you love this genre of point-and-click games as much as I do, at least give this sassy tough girl a chance.

The focus on villains and antiheroes gives the series a fresh twist that it definitely needed. While it doesn’t offer anything revolutionary, you’ll enjoy several hours of fun through the eyes of the beloved characters that DC Comics fans love so much.

This marks our third visit to the blocky world of DC Comics heroes. Once again, we took on the roles of Batman and Robin, and with the help of the Justice League and the villainous Legion of Doom, we faced the greatest threat this world has ever encountered. However, even this installment isn’t without its flaws, whether technical or narrative. At its core, LEGO Batman 3 is an ambitious creation that captivates with its comic-book atmosphere, but its issues may deter potential players and fans.

Easy Delivery Co. is an engaging relaxation simulator that does a great job of conveying a chilling atmosphere, and its level design is strikingly reminiscent of the TV series Twin Peaks. The story isn’t particularly compelling, but it will certainly appeal to those looking for a short, light-hearted game to play over one or two evenings.

Injustice 2 brings tremendous improvements to the DC Comics game series, surpassing the first installment. Fans will be thrilled not only by the well-crafted story but also by the variety of game modes. For me personally, the second installment of Injustice proves that, if developers want to, they can go the extra mile and surprise even players who are completely unfamiliar with the action-fighting genre.

The game aims for a darker tone, but this is overshadowed by an excess of action and a monotonous combat system. Still, it delights with an opulent selection of game modes that can keep players entertained for a while. Overall, however, it’s a case of wasted potential that some DC Comics fans won’t look back on fondly.

Metro: Last Light marks a revolutionary change for the entire series, which has placed greater emphasis not only on the characters, their motivations, and personalities, but also on the story—which is no longer a poorly copied version of Glukhovsky’s novel, but a work in its own right with a new and suspenseful plot. On top of all that, the developers have created a fresh take on the post-apocalyptic world, which boasts a realistic look and a gloomy atmosphere.

It will delight fans of horror and survival games, but it won’t satisfy those looking for a breathtaking story and well-developed characters.
