If there is ever one word to describe Denshattack, it would be creative. Despite Undercoders’ evidently limited budget, their creative juice seems to be abundant and overflowing. Denshattack is solid, well executed and a very unique video game.
As a newcomer to the Doom series, I will describe this game in two words, bombastic and (hell) a lot of fun. It’s one of those games that goes with literally “all guns’ blazing.” From start to finish, every level feels unique, and the setting stands out with its medieval yet futuristic environment. I had many standout experiences I didn’t know I would experience from a first-person shooter; piloting a giant mech or delivering rocket punches to kaiju-sized demons. Its mechanics are simple yet don’t feel monotonous. In saying this, the game is not perfect, but its cons are heavily outweighed by its pros.
For a studio as small as Fumi Games, they did well for a debut game. I am someone who prefers the feel and vibe of a game over next gen graphics. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire’s game mechanics isn’t revolutionary and can be at times repetitive, and the story could be improved. However, considering its a new IP, they could only improve in its second entry if ever they decide to make a sequel. If you’re curious, I would recommend players to give this a try for a unique, charming experience.
I’m not the biggest God of War fan, but I respect and recognize the significance of this franchise to PlayStation and gaming itself. I feel that if this game came before God of War (2005), my perception, expectation, and general feel of Sons of Sparta would be better since I would get that this is a start or attempt to start a franchise. However, when a franchise is already this established, Sons of Sparta leaves a lot to be desired. The story, characters and experience pale in comparison to other entries in the franchise.
LEGO Party! is a casual game you can pick up anytime and requires little skill; although some minigames are a bit harder to learn than others. The multiplayer experience is really where this game is maximized to its full potential. Quirky dialogue and that ’90s game show feel fit the game perfectly.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is one of the best stealth action games ever. It’s a stark reminder of how good it was in the recent past and how good it still can be for the future of the genre if not the franchise. But there’s a missed opportunity of expanding the lore with the power of this generation’s consoles and a lack of major content for returning players that would elevate and provide new experiences for fans of the series.
A classic with modern-day graphics. Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a good entry point for anyone looking to sink their teeth into the franchise, or if you just simply want to turn off your brain and have an entertaining weekend of non-stop ninja-slashing-monster-slaying action. Simple yet elegant is how I would describe Ninja Gaiden 2 Black.
