LEGO Party is a fun party game that does a great job of combining Mario Party-style gameplay with the LEGO brand.
Creative, colourful, and a consistent crack up, Lego Party is purpose-built to turn any boring old night into a block party filled with belly laughs.
For a lesser game, hewing too closely to the formula established by other beloved giants of the genre often shines a spotlight on all the ways it pales in comparison. Lego Party tempts fate by being just a few bricks removed from the exact structure of classic Mario Party, but actually walks the walk with its own high-quality supply of intricate boards and delightfully wacky minigames.It also adds some smart features and twists of its own, to the point where I reckon it could soar to even greater heights if it were a degree less beholden to its clear primary influence. Regardless, Lego Party offers one heck of a good time and deserves a spot in your multiplayer party-game rotation.
LEGO Party! stands tall as one of the best games ever in the competitive board game-style genre. Sure, it's derivative of Mario Party, but it also improves on many games in that series in a multitude of ways.
Lego Party is everything you want for a Friday night in with the family. Silly, funny, and accessible, finally Mario Party has some competition.
What holds it back is both how closely it adheres to the Mario Party formula, and how rough and unfriendly the minigames can be from a gameplay perspective, especially for younger or less experienced players. It’s a cute romp, but not all the way there yet.
