Cory Wells's Reviews
Gran Turismo 7 is the quintessential Gran Turismo and the best of what the series has accrued over its 25 years of existence.
Tekken 8 is a bold direction in the fighter genre that ultimately leads to it being one of the greatest fighting games of all time. The amount of content that Bandai Namco is offering here is more than ever before seen in a fighting game. The Dark Awakens, while only a few hours long, focuses more on the narrative of Jin and Kazuya with cutscenes and comes close to jumping into JRPG territory. Tekken 8 is about the fighting, and the integration of the Heat System and changes to the fighting system propel the series forward while offering some of the most rewarding fights out there. The visuals and gameplay bring together an experience that's truly next generation. Tekken 7 was an excellent base to go off of for the next game, and Bandai Namco added so much more with Tekken 8. Fans of the long-running series will not only love the additions, but also newcomers to the series will have all the tools laid out for them to get properly acclimated with Tekken.
Project Cars offers a new simulation racer to the mainstream audience. Anyone who deals in serious virtual racing will enjoy the game as its details from the car setup to matching race day almost goes unmatched. While offering all that, the game looks beautiful all while offering the full feeling of a race environment. It will be interesting to see what is offered in the future for this game, but Namco Bandai's first effort is as much as you can ask for.
The Stick of Truth is the complete South Park experience, and there is nothing else in gaming like it.
Music Evolved has the opportunity to be the ultimate party game, as its creative depth, functionality, and fun-factor go unmatched in comparison to any other music game.
Rocksteady has created the quintessential Batman game with Arkham Knight. Where could they possibly go from here in the future? That is something to worry about way down the road as everyone that is a Batman fan, whether if they play video games or not, should experience Arkham Knight. Rocksteady does such a great job with these games in blending a movie and comic book experience.
Tekken 7 is the fighting experience that its fan base wanted it to be.
This is possibly the biggest update that a Madden game has ever seen.
F1 2017 is the best representation of a complicated sport that Codemasters has offered. Offering its deepest and most authentic career mode, it draws players into the sport like no other F1 game ever has. You will learn the in-and-outs of the sport and feel like an engineer yourself. F1 2017 successfully hits 60 FPS at 4K resolution with a sacrifice in graphical detail. The racing is true-to-life on the track, but the A.I. is severely lacking. Fans of the franchise will really enjoy 2017.
Madden NFL 19 is ultimately the complete Madden of the current generation.
Besides some of the same nagging issues with the franchise, the portions that got upgraded truly shine.
Creed: Rise to Glory is an experience unlike any I've ever had with a video game.
Dirt Rally 2.
San Diego Studios' emphasis on implementing changes based on community feedback and thinking outside of the box with MLB The Show 19 has paid off.
Fans of the original Layers of Fear or any psychological horror game will truly enjoy Layers of Fear 2.
NASCAR Heat 4 gets it right with properly replicating NASCAR and the racing is the best the series has seen.
Typhoon Studios has created an indie title that will capture the attention of the masses.
On its own, the remake of Resident Evil 3 is another hallmark achievement for Capcom. It may not satisfy purists of the original, but there's no reason that fans of what the RE2 remake accomplished won't enjoy this.
It's hard to knock a game like XCOM: Chimera Squad considering its price of admission at launch.
I haven't had a VR experience in the past that equaled what The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners was able to accomplish.
