7 / 10.0 - Trials Rising
Mar 14, 2019

Trials Rising, as far as everyone is concerned, fulfills your wildest dream of doing idiotic flips, crazy hoops, and mindless stunts that are deemed nearly impossible in real-life for kicks even if the game rewards you with blatantly horrible and bland cosmetics.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame might not be for adults. Even so, it's a game worth your time if you're a completionist, hitting that sweet spot of a 100% completion rate to add more Platinum trophies, and if you love to play video-games with your kids. Playing The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame brings out the kid inside me that ignores whatever cumbersome of a reality we call life has for a few hours. Unfortunately, it does not have enough to keep my younger self out for a long time.

6.5 / 10.0 - Anthem
Mar 1, 2019

Anthem is far from perfect, it’s covered with numerous technical issues and server problems, and its narrative can be a long stretch to understand. Regardless of its issues, Anthem’s world can still keep you engaged with tons of activities to do, combat is enjoyable, helping low level players can give you awesome rewards, and its exhilarating flight mechanics is something that must be experienced. Overall, Anthem is still a fun game to play, especially with your friends

9.5 / 10.0 - Apex Legends
Feb 12, 2019

Apex Legends provided more than what PUBG and Fortnite, even Blackout, had to offer. Despite having 60 players in the map, a forced squad-based battle royale with an impressive ping system, an awesome cast of Legends with peculiarly amusing dialogue, outstanding overall game performance and smooth gameplay, Apex Legends is the best battle royale game out there.

Even with the absence of character development and upsetting VR mode, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is a great entry to show that even old formulas work with some slight twists to it.

8 / 10.0 - Battlefield V
Jan 3, 2019

Battlefield V is barebones on launch with some classic modes stretched within four months — which includes the all-new battle royale mode Firestorm. Even so, I still enjoyed my time on Grand Operations, scaring off a tank with a Panzerfaust and an anti-tank grenade, and jumping off from C-47s.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a lot of things to offer. The huge sandbox laid out in front you, making you freely choose whatever you want to do with its world, and its compelling story and engaging characters. Despite its minimal flaws, what I feel about the game didn’t change. I’m fascinated with Rockstar Games’ progress with Red Dead Redemption 2 and how they managed to move the open-world genre forward by a mile. It was worth the wait, I had poured a lot of hours into the game and I never stopped playing it even after the main campaign. Red Dead Redemption 2 is my choice for Game of the Year.

Treyarch has put their time and effort in compensating the lack of a single-player campaign by polishing and developing its content, making sure that they have refined the game’s combat system and find the right balance. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is fun, entertaining, and addicting. While ditching the single-player campaign can be a huge turn-off, once you realize Black Ops 4’s potential and how enjoyable their multiplayer modes are, especially its great battle royale mode Blackout, you will definitely love Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Done Running didn’t give that much of a great impression as a season starter. You’re more focused on many things like making AJ apologize to a lot of people in the group which took a few more minutes and other unnecessary fillers. While I do understand that Telltale Games is trying to build up the characters and their relationship that would eventually be a huge impact in the season finale, knowing that this final season is only up to four episodes, they could have focused more on Clementine and AJ in the first episode like what they did with Javier in Season 3: A New Frontier.

I'm really glad that Activision and Vicarious Visions ported N. Sane Trilogy to the Nintendo Switch; because playing the game on the go, especially that the game has arcade mechanics, is definitely a kicker and worthwhile.

Frontier showed that they can do a lot more than just roller coaster theme park games. It’s amazing to know how studios push themselves to give out the best experience to players. Setting aside the game’s performance since a future patch can fix it and it’s not entirely game breaking, Jurassic World Evolution never fails to amaze me when it comes to its variety of dinosaurs, deep gameplay mechanics, and incredible visuals. It’s a Jurassic Park builder you never want to miss.

8 / 10.0 - State of Decay 2
May 29, 2018

While State of Decay 2 may not be visually appealing, the thrill and excitement that the game provides shine the most. Even the fear of losing one of your best lieutenants in the community is there. You have to treat the game like it was the real thing – a real zombie apocalypse. It’s a unique zombie game experience you never get to come across frequently. In short, State of Decay 2 is your ultimate zombie simulator.

We may not see another Batman game from Telltale for a long time, but I would like to say “great job” with the season finale. Even if there were no “the edge of the seat” experiences, the emotionally-driven plot overshadowed its flaws. With the freedom of control in how you mold John Doe to be, what the Same Stitch showed is a fantastic way to end the season with, probably, a teardrop.

I never had any complaints from What Ails You aside from its dull scenes and the take of Mr. Freeze, it did leave me quite excited for the finale, Same Stitch, this month or next month. I can’t wait to see the Joker in full action!

8 / 10.0 - Doom VFR
Dec 31, 2017

DOOM VFR provides loads of fun factor. Although it is not a perfect virtual reality iteration of DOOM as it does have its own minimal flaws, DOOM VFR is still a nice experience leaving me satisfied after I climbed out from the virtual world of Hell.

Batman: The Telltale Series on the go is the big plus here. I can bring the game wherever I want and with the whole first season of the game installed on my Nintendo Switch, it’s a great game to let time pass while waiting for my dog’s checkup at the vet clinic or while I’m traveling. While it does have some setbacks, Batman: The Telltale Series is a nice addition to the Nintendo Switch’s library of games. I just wished Telltale Games could have added more to the Nintendo Switch version.

Despite the lack of introducing new mechanics to set off the mid-season, Telltale Games took the helm with its narrative direction for Episode 3: The Fractured Mask. It’s a good way to spice things up as we get closer to the season finale, and hopefully, the next episode would not screw this momentum up.

Star Wars Battlefront II is a complete experience unlike its predecessor. Despite the undelivered single-player campaign in terms of gameplay, the story was grand, magnificent, and well written! And even though it's riddled with microtransactions and loot crates, Star Wars Battlefront II delivered one of the best and smoothest multiplayer experience I've had this year, and I'm certainly satisfied.

The Frozen Wilds adds more depth to Horizon: Zero Dawn as it also paves the path for a sequel that might be set in a different location that is far from the tribes. This expansion completes the overall formula that Guerrilla Games wanted to do with their latest IP, and with extreme efforts, they turned world of Horizon: Zero Dawn into a whole new level that I had enjoyed deeply.
