The River of Alice Extended Version is a thoroughly mixed bag. Though some of the puzzles, the visuals, and the sound are pleasant and relaxingly surreal, the slow pace and sometimes nonsensical puzzles make the game more akin to a dream you’ll forget in the morning.

Though the game can occasionally feel a bit unfair in combat, it more than makes up for it with its fantastic atmosphere.

The game lacks long-term progress and depth, however, through its simple aesthetics, whimsical music, and interesting gameplay, the game manages to offer a unique and inspired twist to the dungeon-crawler genre.
