Dungeon Defenders: Awakened lacks a final polish to make it a truly great experience. The menu system is cumbersome, the solo experience gets repetitive due to lack of variety, the story is thin and there isn’t a lot that makes this entry stand out from previous games in the series.
Ary and the Secret of Seasons is a delightful action adventure that has great gameplay ideas but ultimately falls short. There are a lot of glitches, the combat is average at best and the visuals feature low-res textures. The ability to control the four seasons and use them to solve puzzles is a redeeming feature, but the reality is there are plenty of stronger titles in the genre available.
Catherine: Full Body is an excellent remaster that adds a lot of new content. There’s new difficulty options, new story content, gameplay tweaks and enhancements to the visual presentation. If you’ve been itching to re-enter the world of Catherine or simply missed out on it the first time, then this is without a doubt the definitive version.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is a quality remaster. It takes a good game, gives it a fresh coat of paint and allows both old and newcomers alike to see what made it an engaging experience in the first place.
While the game is supposed to be a calming and relaxing experience, it ends up just being frustrating due to all the repetition. There is some enjoyment to be had if you are a fan of farming games and will be playing this very casually, but otherwise there are better titles available.
There’s little reason for you not to add 51 Worldwide Games to your collection. The title is an absolute joy to play thanks to the in-depth tutorials, variety of rules for different games and, perhaps most importantly, it saves you the hassle of taking out the physical games that are stored away somewhere in your cupboard.
Ultimately A Hat in Time is a quirky platformer featuring a stellar cast of characters, unique levels that are fun to explore and balanced gameplay. However, the Nintendo Switch version has an inconsistent frame rate, a poor camera system and long load times which put it behind other versions.
