In the end, Pokémon Shield feels like the franchise has taken one step forwards, but two steps back.
Trials of Mana is a good modernisation of a nearly 25-year-old game, but it’s also one that was obviously held back.
Overall, Borderlands: Legendary Collection is a Switch port that is both easy to recommend but also to avoid. There’s nothing inherently bad about the package, in fact, you’re going to get hours of enjoyment out of it, but much of it shows its age in a way that will turn some off.
Overall, Fairy Tail is a fantastic and faithful representation of its source material, while also being a wholly competent game as well. Its characters are fun, its story is engaging (if not particularly well written), while the flashy and interesting battle system is fun. Repetition in Requests and some performance issues drag down the game, as do its insistence on fan-service elements. In the end though, if you’re a fan of Fairy Tail or just want a new turn-based RPG to play, you’ll get some enjoyment here.
There are some small niggles that stop it from being great, like the weaker stages and slow progression towards buying cosmetics, but if you’re looking for a fun new multiplayer game, Fall Guys is for you.
Overall, UFC 4 is an evolution, as opposed to a revolution.
If you’re looking for a new narrative adventure, you’ll likely love Tell Me Why, but if it’s not your genre of choice, this won’t be the game to make you love them.
Overall, NBA 2K21 is a good game with potential that isn’t quite fulfilled. It feels fantastic to play, the A.I. teammates are the best they’ve been and the pushing of VC seems slightly less aggressive. However, while the game is a mixed bag visually, while the story is doesn’t delve as deeply into the struggles with dealing with another’s legendary shadow as it could.
Overall, Mafia: Definitive Edition really is a fantastic update to Mafia, foils and all.
If the collection had gone beyond being a simple port and upping of resolution this could have been an utterly amazing experience, but unfortunately the lack of improvements to the game makes it a lacklustre collection.
If you’ve been interested in survival games in the past but were turned off by high difficulty levels and complexity of systems, this is the game for you.
If you enjoyed Pokémon Shield and are looking for more Pokémon to fill your time, The Crown Tundra is worth the price of admission.
Overall, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a fun, yet unexceptional experience.
If you’re a fan of SaGa or classic RPGs and don’t mind playing some early Gameboy games, you’ll get a kick out of this collection.
The short length, relative lack of difficulty and couple of mechanical niggles stop it from being great, but if you’re looking for a new 2D action-adventure game, you won’t be disappointed.
By no means is No Man’s Sky a bad game, but it just isn’t an amazing one. That a team of 10 people could create the vast experience they have is an incredible feat and one that should never be downplayed, but I almost wish they hadn’t been so intent on creating such a giant experience.
Overall, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is a step up from Star Ocean IV and also a step in the right direction for the series.
Unless you absolutely cannot function without more Destiny, my suggestion is that you skip Destiny: Rise of Iron entirely and hold out hope that Destiny 2 finally brings the franchise to greatness.
While The Stick of Truth felt like an extended, interactive, episode of South Park, The Fractured But Whole instead feels like an external story that just happens to be taking place in the show.
I went into Miitopia expecting an absurdist adventure filled with whacky humour and zany writing, and while it didn’t quite deliver on that, I found something else to enjoy in the experience.
