Everything in Devil May Cry 5 is ridiculous in the best way possible. The action and combat system are ridiculously deep. The graphics and music are ridiculously good and the story and fan service is ridiculous as well.
While The Wizards: Enhanced Edition isn’t a super long game coming in around 6 hours for me it does offer reasons to replay it.
Henchman & Goon have crafted a fine puzzle, platformer in Pode. We loved the characters of Glo and Bulder and despite some frustrating puzzles and a disagreeable camera, we always felt motivated to push through to see them to the end of their journey
Assault Android Cactus+ is arguably the best version of the game that you can play. Sure it doesn’t look quite as sharp as it does on the other platforms but it still looks good and more importantly runs just as well. It still is one of the most fun twin-stick shooters I’ve played even three years after I first played it.
Codemasters shows once again that they know how to make great racing games with DiRT Rally 2.0.
If you played the first game and wished the difficulty was a little more accessible or wished you could play it with a buddy you’ll find both of those things are now possible in Dick Wilde 2. If you’ve had your fill of these wave based/shooting gallery VR titles though I’m not sure there is anything here that will get you to jump in.
I had hopes for RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride but they sadly crashed and burned when I got to see what it had to offer. Designing the tracks can be irritating due to a wonky camera, riding the tracks isn’t that thrilling do to lack of speed, and I still wonder why there is a first-person shooter in this.
Despite the lack of content Bit Dragon has made a fun new multiplayer arena game in Hyper Jam. Anyone can pick it up and play and things like the perk system and weapons help keep things different enough as you play round to round. Even more importantly is how good it looks and sounds while doing so.
There is a lot to play through here but there aren’t a lot of options in terms of playstyle. Having more than one weapon to use would’ve been nice and having the option to play with friends online would help this be a more accessible party game.
If these “one more go,” perform tricks and get huge scores, type of games are something you enjoy then FutureGrind is worth your time.
The Mage’s Tale was well worth the wait for me as a PlayStation VR owner. It’s a great first-person dungeon crawler that let me experiment with its spell system and feel rewarded and powerful for doing so.
The fact that it was made by just two people does show in a lot of areas such as the visuals, story, and repetitive boss battles but none of those outweighed the good times I had with it.
Some issues with the translation and repetitive combat sequences do drag it down a bit but if you can look past those like I did you’ll likely enjoy it.
I enjoyed diving into Pong, Asteroids, and others but someone else who grew up playing these games will get far more enjoyment out of it
Arca’s Path is the type of game that I can recommend to both VR veterans and to those who have never played games much at all. The easy to grasp control scheme of just looking where you want the ball to go makes it simple to pick this game up.
The world is fun and well worth exploring and I’m very much hoping we see that fourth entry in the future. I just hope that Gunfire Games can work on and greatly improve the technical performance in future titles as it holds Darksiders III back from being truly great.
Despite the lack of a story it’s still hard to not recommend it. It’s a more immersive experience if you play it in PlayStation VR but if you don’t own one it’s worth playing on the TV as well. If you’ve got a few dollars and are in the mood for something new to test your brain with give Neverout a shot.
It’s a beautiful marriage of visuals, audio, and gameplay the likes of which is rare and easily one of the best games of 2018. You absolutely should experience the Tetris Effect.
Despite a few issues my overall time with Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition was quite enjoyable.
We had fun while playing Tied Together even though it didn’t last very long. It’s easy for anyone in the family to pick up and play it and the silly nature of it led to quite a few laughs while playing. If it had more levels or more reasons to play the levels that it does have over again I could recommend it more but as it stands right now I’d wait for a sale on it.
