Justin Oneil's Reviews
I will say that if you enjoyed Resident Evil 7 in VR then I think Home Sweet Home is a must play for you. It may be the scariest title I've played since then thanks to the solid presentation and outstanding audio work that Yggdrazil Group put in here. Being set around Thai myth also helped breathe a little originality into it as well and helped set it apart from all of the other horror titles out there. I'm not sure if it's quite as terrifying on a traditional screen but for VR owners who want a great horror title this is a must.
As someone who is interested in this mythology I found a lot to like about Call of Cthulhu.
Monster Games does show improvement this year with NASCAR Heat 3 it's just not as big a jump as I would've liked to see.
Some puzzles could've done with being a little less obtuse and some players might have an issue with the length versus the price. I however really enjoyed my time with Blind and recommend it to anyone looking for a dark story and some fun puzzle solving.
V-Rally 4 might not be as significant as it was back when the last entry hit but for a rally racer it's still pretty good.
While Strange Brigade doesn't necessarily do anything new it does provide a fun third-person shooter experience especially with friends. Its got a great setting, funny dialogue, solid shooting mechanics, and fun ways to kill enemies. I could see Strange Brigade becoming a more well known IP if Rebellion works out some of the issues with this first entry.
Despite the criticisms I have with Firewall Zero Hour currently, they don't take away from just how magical this VR shooter is. I feel like this is the best reason to own a PlayStation VR headset yet as it really shows how pre-established genres can be given new life in ways not possible while playing on a traditional screen. I love the community this game has already built and I'll be staying apart of it for the foreseeable future. Go buy a PlayStation VR, buy an Aim Controller, and buy Firewall Zero Hour because it's too darn good to miss out on.
It's really quite amazing that even though this is the third Yakuza game released in the past 12 months, the formula still hasn't gotten old but rather just seems to get better.
Little Dragons Cafe delighted and surprised me throughout with its charming style and relaxing gameplay loop.
Brawlout is affordable, has a great weight and feel to its gameplay and is fun to get a group of friends together to play.
Many of these simulators only cater to certain crowds and Train Sim World I think will suffice for those who love this material. You will get plenty of game time out of it that's for sure but I couldn't help but feel disappointed in the lack of routes in the game. The performance issues and glitches I encountered also took away from the experience and frustrated me. If you can accept those issues then this might be a train worth boarding.
Guacamelee! 2 continues Drinkbox Studios streak of outstanding high quality games.
So in the end would I recommend Phantom Doctrine to fans of tactical or strategy games? Absolutely.
Overcooked 2 just gives all of us fans of the original game more which is all you can really ask for from a game that already did so much right. So invite a friend over on the couch or team up with some online in order to save the Onion Kingdom once again in this must play multiplayer experience.
Overall I found the real enjoyment in Detached comes from it's zero gravity movement. It does a great job of making you really feel like you are out in space both with its control scheme and the visuals and sense of scale that it provides. While the single player wasn't memorable and I worry about the size of the online player base there is no question that this is a unique experience that is worth checking out at some point.
If you're an 80's or 90's kid like myself then I feel like you will absolutely enjoy Pixel Ripped 1989.
A few minor issues aside, this is one paradise worth getting shipwrecked on.
The Persistence isn't anything original but everything it set out to do it pretty much nails. While I wasn't drawn to the story so much the combat and constant variety of new ship layouts kept me engrossed and saying I'll give it one more run. It's a tense, unnerving and action packed romp aboard The Persistence and any fan of horror owes it to themselves to give it a go.
All-Star Fruit Racing isn't a bad game it just ended up being a very average and meh game in my opinion.
God of War is a truly special game and one that will last in my memory for a very long time.
