When it comes to annual releases like these, everything is essentially a build-up of the formula before it, but WRC 9 to me feels like the most fun I’ve had in a rally game since Colin McRae DiRT over 13 years ago, and that says something.

5 / 10.0 - Onrush

It seems like good party game, but even then it lacks the longevity that would make you want to come back for more after 30 minutes or so. It's a fun premise, but one that's a few years too late.

Kylotonn should be commended on what is a great game, but certainly a niche one at that.

Need For Speed Payback represents EA's answer to where most racers are headed -– massive worlds, large car lists, extensive customisation options and plenty of things to do.

Overall, “Calling All Units” is a neat expansion to add to The Crew, but unless you’ve got a sufficient in-game credits you’ll either need to buy crew points with actual money or grind through events to afford the vehicles you’ll need to complete the additional missions. Gameplay-wise the upgraded pursuits are fun to play and the delivery events are enjoyable too, although they do get repetitive. The new police vehicles look great and handle well too, and for those gamers who haven’t finished the base storyline yet, the expansion adds some additional flavour to the game.

I’ll be honest in saying that my initial impressions of Farming Simulator 17 when I first started were somewhat poor. It felt a little daunting, a little slow and a little boring. After ploughing through the tutorials though and spending a little more time, you do start to appreciate just how detailed a game like this is. Being able to grow crops one moment, cut down trees another and then look after livestock the next, it’s a fairly complex game for what would seem like a trivial concept. The only problem though is that it’s hard to really keep your attention when everything is so mundane. Sure, there’s some enjoyment in switching between tractors, changing your machinery for the task and completing your goals, but when it all moves at a snail’s pace it grows tiresome very quickly. For those wanting an authentic farming experience then yes, Farming Simulator 17 is your game, but for regular gamers wanting to try something new, I’d recommend going down to Bunnings, buying some seeds and doing it yourself.

6 / 10.0 - WRC 6
Oct 14, 2016

WRC 6 is akin to having a model girlfriend with a great personality, except whenever you ask to hang out she wears clothes that haven’t been in fashion since the 80s. There’s fun to be had, but the presentation is just lacking. Sadly, in 2016 a racing title needs more than just good graphics and good sounds. Whether it’s a greater rally experience or just an overall racing game, sadly there exists better built alternatives elsewhere.
