The pace of id and Avalanche's FPS is neutered by a dull open world and thin story but, in an unbridled whirlwind of gruesome gibs, you probably won't care.

Odyssey is a better, and certainly bigger, Assassin's Creed game than any before it. The sheer number of moving parts can be intimidating but this is a special adventure that must be savoured.

TV show stalwarts should breathe easily and those on the fence about the game's penchant for outrageous humour to definitely give it a go for the sake of its fantastic gameplay. However, if South Park has never been to your taste, The Fractured But Whole makes no attempt to change that.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic is a surprisingly hardcore RPG that belies its child-friendly surface. Teeth-gnashing boss battles can almost always be overcome with careful consideration and patience, and, when you find the solution, you'll wonder why you were even annoyed in the first place. The story is guff with a set of bland characters that do little more than move you from place to place, but you could do worse.
