Portal Knights could be a great game, but its controls, clunky interface and frequent bugs can be discouraging. You can play with your friends, but framerate drops on split-screen can spoil it. If you ignore these issues, you will have fun, especially in co-op.

I wouldn't recommend Birthdays the Beginning to anyone. Its biggest problem is badly done tutorial, which doesn't help in understanding this complicated game. Beside original idea for gameplay, there is not much worth seeing.

If you want to copy something, then the do it from the best. Stardew Valley is a very successful clone of the brilliant Harvest Moon: Back to Nature which develops many things even more. It's priced very reasonable.
