Monolith Soft has done an awesome job portraying the world of Alrest and its story. Every chapter feels like it could have its own game, complete with their own twists and turns.

9 / 10.0 - Furi
Jan 26, 2018

I enjoyed my time with Furi. I also hated it. Loved the way your character moves the way you want him to, hated the way the bosses are so darn hard to beat. It’s the perfect game to satisfy your cravings for hard boss fights. Also the perfect game to destroy your controller. Or in this case, your Nintendo Switch.

6.5 / 10.0 - Fear Effect Sedna
Mar 5, 2018

Okay, one last thing. I know this is too much, but at the time of writing, Fear Effect Sedna’s app icon for the Nintendo Switch is boring. You know what a great app icon for the Switch is? Something that tells the gamers what they’re about to put their hands into. You know what isn’t? Letters within textured shapes. Nowhere in “f.e.s.” would I know what game Sedna is. I won’t even know what those letters stand for. An icon is supposed to give players an idea of what a game’s about. Fortunately, this mediocrity might just go away after an update and (hopefully) be replaced by something more engaging.

Overcooked is a cooking simulator mixed with frustratingly fun hell. Best played with friends – doesn’t actually break relationships.

Burnout Paradise Remastered brings all the glory of the original game, most of the downloadable contents, and adds additional graphical effects and upscaled resolution (for consoles, that is). Paradise City gives you the adrenaline you deserve, letting you crash cars and race whenever you want to. It’s speedy and thrilling and will make you wonder how it came out for the previous generation of consoles when it’s obviously a game made from the future (which is today).

9.6 / 10.0 - God of War
Apr 12, 2018

God of War is so well-crafted, every scene is beautifully detailed. Even scary creatures have their own charm, making me hesitant to actually kill them with the gruesome finishing moves. God of War is one gorgeous game, from beginning to end.

Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition is far from perfect, but it’s a great addition to the list of racing simulations, with the feeling of real racing as its best asset.

8.6 / 10.0 - The Fall
May 14, 2018

Overall, The Fall has me intrigued and scared and amazed at how the twists and turns are presented. The gameplay could use a bit more smartsy action, but the whole narrative pulled me through. It was a shame ARID’s adventure ends in just a couple of hours. Hey, at least The Fall Part 2: Unbound is now available, right? Just be prepared to cash out for Part 2. You’d definitely want more of ARID’s adventures. Hey, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (what a mouthful) is a celebration of all things Street Fighter, including sketches and behind the scenes of the games for the last three decades. The collection perfectly emulates playing in the arcades, even adding optional frames that let you feel like you’re actually playing in a big, boxy, Stranger Things-related gaming machine.

A Legend Reborn is a safe entry to the beat-em-up genre. It’s pretty basic but the writing is phenomenal. It’s also safe to say people might get offended with some of its humor. Not to mention the whole game is an apology letter for Nintendo Switch owners who purchased last year’s NBA Playgrounds before an online update was released. And in my opinion, this is the best way to play the game – for free.

8 / 10.0 - Unravel Two
Jun 27, 2018

Like the first game, Yarnys explore a hub world (this time a Lighthouse) and enter pictures to play a level. There are seven story levels in total, each within 20-ish minutes. Additional challenge levels open up once you finish the main campaign. Oh, and it’s also done by about five hours or so.

7.5 / 10.0 - Super Bomberman R
Jul 17, 2018

Super Bomberman R is a good game. It’s not that great, but it’s good enough to let me play through all the levels in story mode and a couple of matches with people I know. What’s really great is how many new characters are being added to the playable roster after all these months, with the latest being Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series. Playstation even gets an additional Ratchet and his trusty robot sidekick Clank.

So is Splatoon 2’s first ever paid DLC worth the $20? Heck, yeah! Not only are you given the missions, but finishing even just the main story is worth it. It’s nice to see the Off the Hook team in action for once. Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion really feels like it’s what Splatoon 2’s main campaign should have been.

8 / 10.0 - Flipping Death

Zoink’s latest IP sure knows how to convince players that death isn’t something (or someone) to be afraid of. If you still are, however, then you can always just muster your confidence and run around… Flipping Death.

The in-game world also feels a lot like Infamous Second Son’s, especially during the third act. Why? Well, if I tell you now, you’d be spoiled, right? So best play the game on your own. But for those who have finished the game and also played Second Son, wouldn’t you agree that the Sable Soldiers in the third act being hostile to Spider-Man feels a lot like the Militia in Second Son attacking Delsin? I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just that the whole act is a copycat. Marvel’s Spider-Man should be renamed to Arkham: Second Spider. Joking aside, here’s a serious question to Insomniac Games – sequel when?

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a linear game which balances stealth, escort mission, and puzzles perfectly. To top it all off, the story is phenomenal. Though the character animations may sometimes look stiff and robotic, the overall presentation makes up for these minor nitpicks.

9 / 10.0 - Dreams
Mar 20, 2020

It’s crazy to think that everything you see and hear in Dreams is made from scratch, entirely by the software’s engine. Now imagine if a full-fledged video game dev team actually spends time to make a game here. The possibilities? Limitless.

7 / 10.0 - Iron Man VR
Jul 2, 2020

If not for the story, I wouldn’t finish Iron Man VR. It somehow gets too repetitive at times, but at least there are times when Camouflaj tries to shake things up. And if only they cut some of the story elements and maybe shortened some sequences, the game would have a better score from me.

Long story short, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a stellar game, deserving of a perfect score. However, it’s not without faults. Still, this new entry to the web-slinging series is what players shouldn’t miss out on. The teenage Miles Morales may be new to the superhero business, but people behind the game definitely aren’t.

Overall, Dark Alliance is a fun game for quick 30-minute sessions with friends. However, I’d personally want it to stay in development for longer so developers would fix some of the game’s issues. It’s highly detailed and beautiful, but that’s the only best quality I could say about it right now.
