Might & Magic: Chess Royale is a decent representative of auto chess games, taking most mechanics from existing competitors. The hybridation with battle royale genre is only taken so far, which is a true pity.

AI War 2 breaks the rules of grand strategy games and puts players out of their comfort zone. The unparalleled strategic depth and great variety of situations make this game an absolute try for every strategy fan despite terrible, terrible graphics and sound.

Sometimes less is more, but other times it's just plain less. The streamlined city-builder mechanics keep the player focused on the zombie menace, but the few military units and lack of strategic combat make They Are Billions ripetitive. Ah, the game is also tough as nails.

First-party developer Japan Studio shows competence in the use of virtual reality, and even more in the way it takes the DualShock controller at the front of the action. The protagonists, Sony's Bots, are as cute as they come, and the general look and feel make Astro Bot a joy to play. On the otherside, the game does barely offer any kind of challenge at all and more variety in gameplay would have been appreciated by experienced players. However, it is good to see type of productions for virtual reality, which show great potential.

The child in me was happy with the first turn of my TIE Interceptor, but the adult in me also has to recognise a very straight-forward campaign and a surprising lack of multiplayer modes. But what's there is pretty good, thanks to a phenomenal flight system, clever maps and strategic progression system. Oh, and VR support.

Brilliant simulation of a traditional dungeon crawler board game with a decent variety of enemies. I can't wait for the release of the next dungeon.

FORM takes us to another world, halfway between dream and metaphysics. The developers nail the feeling of interacting with every object in the game and present us with interesting puzzles. It is too short, though, more akin to a demo or a concept than a full game.

A gorgeous-looking, extremely polished city builder that offers a relaxed experience with light RPG, diplomatic and combat elements.

Transference is an extremely interesting experiment and it succeeds in mixing the movie and videogame components. The use of audio will keep you on the edge, and a few jump scare work very well. However, the constant feeling of tension ends up holding the narrative back, as a greater variety of emotions would have benefitted the overall experience. Transference is remarkably short for a videogame, which might disappoint many players.

The strong point of Another Fisherman's Tale certainly lies in the narrative. Indeed, in the metanarrative. The puzzles are not a miracle, and it almost seems that the developers have calibrated the duration of the game to avoid excessive repetitions. The two or three central chapters are spectacular and in practice alone would be worth the price of admission.

Complex beast, Marvel's Midnight Suns. Overall, I have enjoyed it a lot; so much that I found its defects even more annoying, especially considering they are related to design choices around combat missions. Still, this game is an epic adventure, truly worth of Marvel's lore.

Wear the headset and start shooting. And dodging. And creating absurd weapons. MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE is a pretty straight-forward roguelite shooter that delivers on its premise. It won't do much more than that, but that's fine, believe me.

Excellent throwback to memories of our younger selves, Total War: Rome Remastered reminds us how good the basics of this series were and how far it has travelled in the last seventeen years.

DOOM 3 is the ideal choice for virtual reality and its environments have never felt so vivid. The game remains an old school shooter, however the main campaign and the two expansions will give you a great reason to dust off your Aim controller. This adaptation is not perfect, but we should count our blessings.

Crimson Curse builds on Gwent's tense gameplay introducing strong and quintessential easy-to-learn-difficult-to-master new abilities, even though the studio will also need to keep an eye on faction usage for balancing.

The spirit of Rollcage lives back in Grip: Combat Racing, where you speed your way up upside down until victory. The Rivals system is genious, but Caged Element didn't fully explore its potential. Beautiful tracks and a tense campaign are definitely highlights of this game.

Despite the few game-modes at day one, Firewall Zero Hour is one of the new reference points for VR tactical shooters.

Pulsar: Lost Colony is a bold title, especially for an independent studio that trained it from a Kickstarter project. Leafy Games developers have intelligently decided to embrace the technical limitations of their production, choosing to offer many small moments from science fiction anthology, with solid management of their spaceship through well-defined and specialized crew roles.

Cozy. This is PathCraft, a very comfortable experience which doesn't really break any new ground in the puzzle platformer arena, but it makes you feel home and will challenge you with progressively more difficult puzzles. With its cute art and precise and immediate controls, it's easy to recommend.

Floodland is a very strong strategic game with solid gameplay mechanics. The world is fascinating to explore and the narrative campaign introduces new layers of complexity. Defects are few and far between with little impact on the overall experience. Kudos to Vile Monarch.
