Kaelyn Daugherty's Reviews
Tomba! Special Edition is a fantastic and unique game. Even though I had hoped for a full remaster, the original is still fun just the way it is. The added content and features-like saving anywhere and rewinding-are great, and despite some dated mechanics, the colorful world and quirky side quests make it a rewarding, fun experience that is definitely worth playing. While the 34 year old me scores Tomba at an 8.5, purely due to outdated mechanics, the 7 year old me gives it a 10/10 ;)
If you're a fan of puzzle/exploration, or sci-fi games and you don't have the money to afford a spaceship, I highly recommend checking out Deliver Us The Moon. While the game lacks typical sci-fi stuff like alien creatures and other-worldly monsters, it's a fun adventure filled with surprises, that will make you want to keep playing.
If you're a die-hard South Park fan looking for a humorous game to play with friends, South Park: Snow Day could be a good choice for a short, mildly fun experience. However, if you're seeking a lengthy, more enthralling adventure like the previous South Park titles, this game will fall short of your expectations.
Splatoon 3's Side Order DLC puts players into a rogue-like single-player campaign as Agent 8, tasked with rescuing Marina and her friends from the mysterious Deca Tower. Each run through the tower offers a new set of challenges and opportunities to customize abilities and weapons, leading to multiple playthroughs and strategic planning. While some levels may prove more challenging, especially with unfamiliar weapons, Side Order offers a refreshing departure from multiplayer chaos with its replay value and different gameplay options.
It's simple; if you're a Picross fan, you'll enjoy this game. If you're a Story of Seasons fan and you like Picross, you'll really enjoy this game. With over 300+ puzzles, Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons is a great addition to the growing library of Picross games on the Nintendo Switch. It's highly recommended if you enjoy puzzle games, or pixel art.
Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is an open world farming game that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Harvest Moon series. While there are cool new features that fans will enjoy, Winds of Anthos has a few issues when it comes to performance and gameplay. However, it can be a lot of fun if you're patient enough to make it through the prologue and can get the hang of managing your energy.
If you're a fan of retro action/platformers, then you're in for a treat with 30XX. It's a fun game with a good amount of customization and level variety. Play alone or with a friend, and blast your way through ever-changing levels and tough bosses.
Everdream Valley has the potential to become a good farming game, and there were times when I really enjoyed myself just working on the farm and training my animals. But the short story, underwhelming ending, and gameplay issues were a turnoff.
Speed Crew is a fun game to play with the family or a group of friends, but I don't recommend playing by yourself. If you're a fan of co-op games like Overcooked or Moving out, Speed Crew will be a game you enjoy. However, if you're looking for something to play alone, I'd skip this one.
Panic Porcupine is a fast-paced Sonic and Meat Boy mashup/clone with a fun, vintage feel. Are you looking for a relaxing game? You've come to the wrong place; Panic Porcupine is hard. After a while, it can feel a little repetitive too. However, it's at least easy to pick up, feeling familiar and nostalgic. I recommend it to anyone looking for a challenge.
Flame Keepers fast paced combat system is the best part about this game. I really enjoyed running around and testing out all of my new skills and abilities on the various monsters lurking around. The downside is, it can feel repetitive at times which may cause players to lose interest, especially if they find the game to be difficult.
Rytmos is a fun puzzle game. Regenerating the different planets, and making songs give the player a satisfying feeling. A little more of a challenge or maybe some different modes would have been great. But overall Rytmos is a great addition to any puzzle fans library.
When it comes to RPGs, we have the classics to remind us of how far video games have come. Ninja JajaMaru: The Lost RPGs includes two retro JRPGs that will certainly have you feeling nostalgic. Even if you're not a fan of older games, the amount of customization available makes this bundle accessible to everyone from beginners to pros. While both games do feel a little outdated, and one is definitely better than the other, it's nice to see these two finally get their worldwide debut after 30 years.
Rhythm Sprout is a challenging, fast paced, action/rhythm game that will keep you on your toes. Everything from the story, to the characters and the original soundtrack is awesome. While Rhythm Sprout is not for the faint of heart, if you're looking for something with great music, that's upbeat, entertaining and quick to play, I highly recommend picking up Rhythm Sprout.
Crackpet Show is a great game for anyone looking for a frantic, fast paced shoot-em up. It can get a little frustrating and repetitive, mostly when you're stuck on a specific episode, but it's original and great for short bursts of gameplay, especially on a portable system like the Switch.
It Takes Two is a great co-op game to add to your Nintendo Switch library. It could even be something fun for you and your special someone to do on rainy days, or even a weekly date night. I would have really loved some side quests, or collectibles, but I still had a great time playing It Takes Two.
Dropsy is a game that tries to show the human species that being a good person does matter. While there were some things I would change, especially the controls (I personally couldn't stand them), this is an interesting, original game. If you're a fan of point-and-click adventures, you will definitely want to check this one out.
OneShot: World Machine Edition is an awesome game with memorable characters and an interesting story that will challenge your brain and make you think. If you like Undertale, puzzle games, or a great story, then I highly recommend checking out OneShot!
Coromon might be a new game, but the idea is all too familiar. However, different game settings, a new story, over 100 different monsters and a vast world to explore make this game a fun experience. If you love the retro Pokemon games, I definitely recommend checking out Coromon.
Endling: Extinction is Forever is a good game for survival fans and another reminder that humans suck. The story evokes a lot of emotion and tough choices. Overall this is a bitter-sweet game. The story is bitter, and the gameplay is sweet.
