75 / 100 - Blair Witch
Sep 3, 2019

Blair Witch is a polarizing game. On one hand, Bloober Team does a fantastic job crafting an atmospheric and often frightening adventure. On the other hand, the game includes random glitches that require restarting the game to resolve. Making the only thing holding Blair Witch back is the preventable technical issues.

The Fate of Atlantis has been a positive turn for Assassin's Creed Odyssey's DLC expansions. Legacy of the First Blade failed to impress due to lack of unique areas and mostly bland narrative. However, The Fate of Atlantis had Alexios traveling to different realms, seeing old faces, and interacting with gods. A definite improvement from exploring the same areas over and over. Episode 3 Judgment of Atlantis ends things on a high note as Alexios takes on the mantle of champion for one last journey with the gods.

Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn marks the end of Final Fantasy XV and what a high note to end on. Taking control of the game's antagonist Ardyn and showing how the betrayed former king was corrupted provides the much-needed context that fans have been yearning for. Like the previous episodic expansions Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn fills in the gaps left empty in the core campaign. Episode Ardyn is a short but meaningful adventure that shows how Ardyn fell from grace.

Far Cry New Dawn serves as an excellent sequel to Far Cry 5, providing much of the same experience with new characters within a mutated environment. Much of the title focuses on optional objectives and building on the story of the previous game, with a set of great brand new antagonists. Far Cry New Dawn captures everything that made the previous game such a hit while ending the story on a high note.

75 / 100 - Transference
Sep 19, 2018

Transference doesn't have intense combat or elaborate bosses. Instead, the adventure is about the experience of being in an unknown world that feels wrong. This uncomfortable tone of fragmented memories, environments, and many jump scares to create a surreal horror experience. For so much Transference does well it length and expensive price tag will bother a lot of gamers.

Metal Gear Survive takes a lot of risks foreign to the franchise. The use of survival techniques to simulate an actual life-and-death mission did provide more challenges to the adventure.

Sine Mora is everything you would expect from a 2D shooter. The time manipulation mechanics does add another layer of strategy and the giant bosses are exciting. It's a difficult game and the story is confusing but Sine Mora the challenging gameplay kept me hooked.

LawBreakers is an intense FPS where mobility is just as important as precision aiming. Learning how to fall and fly requires a bit of a learning curve but that's the thrill. Using gravity to your advantage and plowing through enemies as they were confetti.
