If you're expecting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you'll be disappointed, but if you're jonesing for some forbidden zone action then Chernobylite is worth your time.
Unto The End is a beautiful game with stunning visuals, but it's held back by uneven – and sometimes downright frustrating – gameplay.
Suzerain probably takes itself a bit too seriously, but offers a unique take on the genre of text-driven gaming that's worth experiencing.
The Signifier promises a lot, but doesn't deliver. However, you can't deny Playmestudio have made something unique and I look forward to seeing future titles from the studio.
Hades is a masterpiece of carefully considered design which Supergiant has poured its heart and soul into. It delivers on every level.
While lacking in sheer variety, what's there is solid. The art style and atmosphere is spectacular, and combat is intense and bloody.
While not perfect, what's there is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, plus it has heart and brains. If you're a fan of roguelikes, Children of Morta is well worth your time.
The Sinking City is an ambitious attempt to bring a fresh take to the world of Lovecraft. If you're an unabashed fan of the lore, or don't mind repetitive gameplay, you'll enjoy what's on offer here. Otherwise, you'll probably end up going slowly mad.
My Friend Pedro is a reminder of the great things a single person can achieve when they have a clear vision and the skills to deliver it. The polish afforded by working with Devolver is the cherry on the cake. Nice one, Victor.
In its current state, Imperator: Rome is a somewhat hollow experience. If you're a patient fan of grand strategy and don't mind dealing with the terrible UI, you'll enjoy what's available. The game will no doubt improve massively over time. Ave Rome!
Tropico 6 is a solid entry into the El Presidente series. There's a few new twists on the classic formula, but largely it's the same engaging mix of politics, trade, and imprisoning homeless people.
The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep is a frustrating mix of brilliance and bad design. Future updates may elevate it to something more but right now it, sadly, suffers from some broken strings.
Looking past its flaws, if you're a fan of narrative storytelling, steampunk and weird wobbly Lovecraftian things – this game is worth your cash.
As a puzzler, Catherine Classic delivers in spades. As a narrative, I'm not a fan. I don't like the storytelling, or the characters, but I can't deny I had fun along the way.
Steel Rats is a fine entry into the clearly niche 2.5D stunt-bike puzzle brawler market. It's a blast to play, and well worth a look if you're a fan of arcade games.
