Ariana and the Elder Codex is a charming budget action platformer with fast, enjoyable combat, a pleasant soundtrack, strong voice acting, and a cozy approach to metroidvania-style exploration. Its world and story have clear potential, but the shallow progression, repetitive enemies, predictable bosses, and lack of deeper variety make it much easier to recommend as a discounted handheld-friendly comfort game than a full-priced genre standout.

80% - Wax Heads
May 11, 2026

Wax Heads is a charming and wonderfully detailed cozy adventure built around the simple joy of recommending records, exploring fictional bands, and uncovering small stories hidden in every LP. Its comic-book visuals, excellent soundtrack, and likable characters make the record shop feel alive, even if the rushed story, lack of voice acting, and some late-game repetition keep it from reaching its full potential.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a fast, addictive, and surprisingly faithful spin-off that combines fluid parkour, simple but satisfying combat, and rewarding roguelike progression into an ideal handheld experience. Its story and characters are weaker, and repeated runs can become slightly repetitive near the end, but the strong movement, energetic soundtrack, and smart exploration loop make it very easy to recommend.

82% - Fishbowl
May 5, 2026

Fishbowl is a heartfelt and intimate slice-of-life adventure that tackles mental health, grief, and everyday routines with warmth, charm, and a strong sense of empathy. Its cozy pixel art, likable characters, clever minigames, and touching atmosphere make it easy to connect with, even if some of its core mechanics could have explored the weight of repetition and daily struggle with more depth.

Pokopia works best when you stop expecting a traditional Pokémon game and embrace it as a charming Animal Crossing-style sandbox full of exploration, habitat building, and relaxed creativity. Its world is delightful to uncover and packed with personality, though missing Czech localization, weak chest organization, long loading screens, and a few undercooked mechanics make the experience rougher than it should be.

A fantastic modern platformer made even fuller on Switch 2, with brilliant original levels, fun new boss fights, enjoyable training challenges, and useful dual badges. The added party content feels unnecessary, and the upgrade may not greatly change a fresh playthrough for returning players, but for newcomers this remains one of the best modern Mario adventures.

The Occultist is a well-crafted first-person horror adventure with a strong atmosphere, engaging exploration, logical puzzles, and a memorable occult pendulum mechanic. Its story may follow familiar genre paths, and the dull enemies, uneven voice acting, and underused audio design hold it back, but its haunting locations, excellent soundtrack, and polished technical state make it a genuinely satisfying horror experience.

90% - Pragmata
Apr 13, 2026

Pragmata is a compact and heartfelt sci-fi action adventure that blends clever puzzle-based combat, rewarding exploration, and a touching central relationship into one of Capcom’s most memorable recent experiments. Its mission structure can become slightly repetitive, and the bond between its leads could have used more room to breathe, but the polished gameplay, strong bosses, beautiful presentation, and emotional core make it an easy highlight of the year.

Ys X: Proud Nordics is the definitive version of an already strong action RPG, expanding the adventure with a memorable new island, enjoyable extra challenges, smart balance tweaks, and the same fast, rewarding combat that makes the series so easy to love. It does not fundamentally rewrite the original experience, so recent players may not need to return at full price, but newcomers should absolutely start here.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is a haunting and beautifully atmospheric horror experience, carried by excellent sound design, strong folklore-inspired storytelling, impressive visuals, and meaningful replayability. Its overcomplicated and sometimes exhausting combat system, simple puzzles, and repetitive environments hold it back, but the fear, tragedy, and oppressive mood still make it a standout horror remake.

Dark Auction is a melancholic and deeply human visual novel that shines through its atmosphere, character stories, striking locations, strong voice acting, and memorable soundtrack. Its repetitive structure, simple auction puzzles, and limited exploration keep it from reaching its full potential, but the emotional core and mystery-driven storytelling still make it an easy recommendation for fans of slower, character-focused narratives.

Foolish Mortals is at its core a charming adventure, held back by a weaker script, an overlong running time, and an unbalanced art style. Even so, it offers plenty of reasons to like it.

The Jester and the Madman is an enjoyable Lovecraftian morsel that may feature somewhat flat characters and dialogues that can feel a bit stiff at times, but it makes up for it with its well-crafted aesthetics and inventive puzzles.

Syberia Remastered is a well-crafted remake that builds on a strong original, giving it a much-needed facelift and a more modern look. It’s just a pity about the numerous bugs and technical issues that detract from an otherwise very good impression.

Simon the Sorcerer Origins may impress with its visuals and nostalgia, but it fails in terms of humor, story, and puzzle logic, ultimately feeling like cheap fan service.

Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken is an interesting genre hybrid that hides a highly atmospheric and entertaining game within. Unfortunately, it sometimes ends up tripping over its own feet.

70% - Sushi Ben
Sep 30, 2025

Sushi Ben is a pleasant little bite-sized experience that can entertain, and if you’re in the mood for a feel-good game, it’s definitely worth a try. Just be wary of the repetitiveness and the weaker content outside the main story.
