7 / 10 - Tell Me Why
Feb 24, 2021

Tell Me Why struggles on the edge of irregular nuances: the game overflows with beautiful ideas, but on the other hand the potential of most of these ideas goes nowhere. Adventure opens you the door to another world, yet it can be one you won't like much at first. But as you dig deeper through the story, you realize that behind another social problem and „controversy" stands much larger narration with detective subtext in its core. Even though you want to compare Tell Me Why to Life is Strange, Tell Me Why is not Life is Strange: not with its story and not with its quality. And that's a shame, because Tell Me Why took some steps that brought the game so close to the line, which Life is Strange back then drew us. Only the small details left it a few steps before the finish line.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War managed to balance two sides of the weights: if you play Call of Duty because of the campaing, you'll be undoubtedly satisfied. Singleplayer brings inovations, that transform classical „run and gun“ missions to think-through spy operations, that looks on Call of Duty beautifully. It doesn't depend if you look on choices, decryption or investigative puzzles or plesant stealth. Cold War breaks the unfortunate old concept used by older parts. On the other hand multiplayer and zombie mode go in the other direction. Instead of changes and inovations we get gunplay, which is still fun, but not that fun. All the inovations that were brought with Modern Warfare don't work in cold war anymore. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can be great part to the series. But in the same way it can be average. All stands on what you prefer better.

5 / 10 - Bleeding Edge
May 4, 2020

Bleeding Edge has one major mistake. It tries to be in the spotlight so badly, that it overlooks the fact, that this show already has its own stars. Even though concept of heroes shooters managed to compile in the good-looking way, Bleeding Edge proves, that good concept and potencial isn't enought without a good use. Heroes are interesting compliation of everything we've seen and maps are well-down spectacle. Gameplay is unfortunately chaos, specially without proper teammates, who would jump into crazy arenas alongside with you. Bleeding Edge is one huge gathering of great but also drained ideas bonded together with poor glue, which hold the game barely together.

The Division 2: Warlords of New York changes nothing on the concept, that was proudly presented us by the main game. Gear is better, system and equipment modifications are slightly less confusing, there is more abilities and gunfights are still fun. But overall DLC brings just rarely something really „new“. Gameplay is still the same. Maybe slightly richer. And so, everyhing stays on the story and the structure of campaign. And that is nothing else but elimination of four, five targets, abou who you know barely something. Maybe that they are the ones, who are shooting at you, so that makes them the bad guys, right? Warlords of New York is a nostalgic package for true lovers of The Division series, who know the game from top to bottom. DLC won't change your opinion on the game. It just gives you more of everything it is.

Concrete Genie seems like an ordinary child game. And it is an ordinary child game. But deep inside you can find a story, which will touch your heart and mechanisms so original, you won't believe and action parts, that despite its really easy difficulty you will like. Still, Concrete Genie is not a game for everyone. If you don't mind recreating dark walls of Denska with your unique paintings over and over again, you'll fall for Concree Genie in any age. If you're looking in this indie game for its action potential, monotonous gameplay is simply something, you won't love in any way.

9 / 10 - Control
Sep 29, 2019

There is a really easy way to describe Control: absolute craziness. But craziness, from which you'll be enjoying every minute. Although Control doesn't bring anything preciously new, with its fascinating gameplay, comfort fighting and moving system flavoured with perfectly made abilities and really remarkable gunplay, it managed to get far behind any classical shootgame. In combination with well-written story Control creates recipe on a great and original experience and chaos that you will love and won't forget long after the game is over.

Studio Supermassive Games knows, how to make great story games. Unfortunately, what they once managed to do in Until Dawn, in Man of Medan fails upon its short game lenght, which does harm mainly to the main characters and dialogues. Otherwise beautiful variety of choice, dark horrifying atmosphere and the feeling of never-ending uncertainty hides behind technical issues, which constantly disturb impressive continuity of the story. Man of Medan thrives in bringing something new as perfectly-done multiplayer into the world of story-telling adventure games, but fails in ways, in which others excel.

LEGO DC Super-Villains finally did something, what most LEGO games couldn't - it brought us something new. Puzzles, minigames were always part of LEGO games but never in this particular way. In combination with so many playable anti-characters and their well-done skills, we finally get something, which at least seems like something we haven't tried before. On the other hand controls and the old-known mechanics, which you can find in almost every LEGO game, isn't something that's going to vanish from this super-villain world.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is not trying to be big, it does not try to pack its story into the parameters of a 100-hour game, but for that it managed to almost perfectly capture the meaning of the story adventure and add something to the top. A Plague Tale: Innocence could not leave us anything than a beautiful 9/10 with a story worth telling. It's a guaranteed adventure, which can surprise you with the fact that getting on one direct gameplay path is definitely not harmful when it is made with an emotion.

Running through sunny Washington from one mission to another and the content of which is almost no different from the first installment. That's not something every player would devour. On the other hand: the game full of action, rewards and content for dozens of hours is the right recipe for a good time. And The Division 2 has managed to show that its concept, which does not change in any way, can be improved and also that developers are able to prevent most mistakes made in the first game. Still you will be stranded on the crossroad to decide whether the second part of this endless fight is the right choice for you.
