Princess Farmer’s match-three play has different level goals to keep you on your toes and bring a fresh approach to the genre. The game is a charming, relaxing romp through a very colourful world, with plenty of characters to meet along the way. It wouldn’t be every gamers’ choice of genre, but for those that like a match-three game incorporating a visual novel style, it is an enjoyable casual game.
I’ve really enjoyed playing Taqoban for this review. My only complaint would be that fifty levels aren’t enough. When I finished the game, I was wanting to carry on playing it. So to me, that is a sign of an excellent puzzle game if you want to keep playing it after it finishes.
Smart Factory Tycoon is an enjoyable game. The developers are continuing to update the game regularly as it was updated as I was playing it for this review. It is not a game that would suit every player as when you are short on money there isn’t much to do except watch the robots at work. But if you are a fan of Tycoon games then Smart Factory Tycoon could be what you are looking for.
Broken Pipe is fine if you don’t want a challenge from a puzzle game. However, as a player who likes to be challenged and enjoys discovering the solution to a puzzle Broken Pipe offered none of that for me. The frame rate shudders are interfering with the gameplay as well, and the mini games fill up the game, but I’m afraid they don’t really fit well into the whole game. Although the eShop price for the game isn’t high, I honestly don’t think it is worth the $5/£3.59 price tag. This only leaves me to tell you that my score for Broken Pipe is…
There’s nothing overly revolutionary about The Last Cube, but what it does, it does it extremely well. It is definitely a game that will give those little grey cells a workout and a feeling of satisfaction when you complete the puzzles. If puzzle games are your go-to genre, I recommend you give The Last Cube a look.
Two Hundred Ways is a good puzzle game for playing in short bursts. It is however let down by fiddly controls. If you can work with the control system as it is you should enjoy the puzzles contained in the game. As for me, I liked what I played of the game but it wouldn’t be one I would be rushing back to play again until the controls were tweaked.
All in all, I’ve had a blast playing Megaquarium and the Freshwater Frenzy DLC. The DLC will be a welcome addition for those who already own the main game, bringing new types of fish for them to keep. For newcomers to the game like myself, you will find a brilliant management simulation game with an interesting subject, just don’t forget to feed the Fish!
Submerged: Hidden Depths is an easy to play and relaxing exploration game about the adventure of two siblings drifting through a desolate watery world. It’s a great game to unwind with, though its running performance on the PC does let it down a tad. But if you enjoy a game, as I do, where you are free to explore and can get past the performance issues, I recommend giving Submerged: Hidden Depths a try.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a gorgeous looking storybook RPG with an engaging story if a little lighthearted. However, the game doesn’t bring anything new to the genre, and with the pacing issues around the random battles, it can get repetitive quickly and become a little bit of a slog to reach the end.
FAR: Changing Tides is a relaxing, thought-provoking and satisfying trek through a dystopian and atmospheric world. If exploring every nook and cranny is your “thing”, then look no further as you will find it all in FAR: Changing Tides. Now if you’d excuse me, I’m off to buy the first game in the series from the eShop.
Treasure Temples is a decent little puzzle game, it has all the right ingredients to make it challenging enough without being overly frustrating. A good puzzle game to add to your library of pick up and play games and suitable for all ages to play.
Pudding Monsters is an enjoyable game in quick bursts. The sliding monster puzzles just give enough of a challenge without it turning into frustration. But beware, for a game that is $0,99 on the app store, I wonder why it is priced at $4,99 in the eShop, especially since the developers haven’t updated the game to suit the system it is being released on.
If you enjoy a good game of Solitaire then 15in1 Solitaire on the Nintendo Switch could be just what you are looking for. The game certainly has plenty of variations on the standard Solitaire card game. It is a great game to pass some time playing for a few hours on a cold winter evening.
Kittens and Yarn is a simplistic puzzle in looks and its challenge. Like most Silesia Games puzzle games, such as Hidden Paws or Summer Paws, Kittens and Yarn doesn’t break the mould of minimalist looks tied in with a decent puzzle game. However, it is a great game to pass a few hours with for the few pounds or dollars the game costs in the eShop.
Ocean’s Heart is a colourful, quirky action-adventure game with some charm. It is pretty easy to play, but it can lead to a few frustrating moments as the controls aren’t always precise. It’s more a love letter to the top-down RPG adventure than a clone. If classic action-adventure games are your thing, give Ocean’s Heart a try.
Power to the People is an interesting take on the resource management genre. I would have liked to have been able to pause the game when I needed to upgrade or fix a broken power line, without being in a rush to get it replaced. However, aside from that, this is an enjoyable game playing with power grids that just might bring a spark into your life.
While I like Draw a Stickman: EPIC, the actual artistic skill required to play this game is zero. Draw isn’t a game for those looking to flex their creativity as little is needed or allowed in the game. The puzzles are pretty linear, and the crayons are spells but in crayon form. The game was good while it lasted, but I feel it could have been so much better.
Letters – a written adventure is a very enjoyable heartwarming game with a relatable coming of age story. I found the story held my attention right up till the end of the game. The use of words in the game is well implemented, focusing on narration and having fun with words with a little word puzzling thrown in for good measure.
Certain elements of Arceus remind me of action games such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Monster Hunter, but with the battle, trade, and collection of previous games still intact. Pokémon Legends: Arceus has undergone significant changes, ultimately making the game better for it. After having played all the previous Pokémon games in the series, I can say I love it, give it a go, and you might love it too!
Hidden Paws is a fun enjoyable little puzzle game. If you have played other games in the series then you know what to expect from the game and it will be purrfect for you. For everyone else, Hidden Paws is an adequate puzzle game to pass a few hours with while you have a cup of coffee with your feet up at the fire.
