8.4 / 10.0 - 12 Minutes
Aug 25, 2021

Twelve Minutes takes advantage of a time loop to tell us an intricate story, managing to motivate player's creativity in trying to prevent seemingly inavoidable situations. Featuring a breathtaking voiceover, it lacks in credibility when it tries to amaze and horrify at any cost, while successfully managing to blow the audience away. It will give you a fulfilling afternoon, and if you love point and click adventures you shouldn't miss it. You can easily see the first two or three endings, but unlocking them all needs quite an effort.

8.2 / 10.0 - Dreamscaper
Sep 2, 2021

In a crowded roguelike landscape, Dreamscaper tries to stand out by adding a narrative, advendure-like mini section, which is so well-crafted and interesting that it almost overshadows the action segments. The game offers good graphics and a cool soundtrack, but also repetitive puzzles and unconvincing enemy design. Luckily, the combat system is excellent, which makes a great pick for any action roguelike fan.

RPGs have been an ever-evolving genre for years, and while most developers strive to introduce some new details to innovate, Dungeon Encounters follows the path of hardcore minimalism. The result is a game that looks outdated and with rusty game mechanics, sold at a price that is everything but minimal. It offers a couple of interesting details but also wild grinding, very repetitive gameplay, and poor graphics. We should expect more than that from Square Enix.

I don't know whether to recommend Ruined King: A League of Legends Story for the interesting story set in the League of Legends universe or because it's one of the best turn-based RPGs I played since quite a while. I'd stick towards the second reason, leaving the first one as the icing on the cake. An engaging storyline, beautifully characterized and customizable characters, and a combat system that will test your tactical skills await you, especially if you dare to play at higher difficulty levels. Will Runeterra's champions become the new Avengers?

8.1 / 10.0 - Solar Ash
Dec 8, 2021

When you want to get rid quickly of level bosses just so you can get back to running down ramps and trampolines, there is something amiss with the balance of the game. And this is exactly the issue with Solar Ash: common enemies aren't a big threat and boss battles break the flow, and not a in a great way. Exploring the game's bizarre worlds, on the other hand, is extremely fun, and requires above average amounts of skill and timing. If you are looking for a fast-paced 3D action platformer that also offers a good story, Solar Ash is a solid choice.

7.2 / 10.0 - Thunder Tier One
Dec 24, 2021

The top-down tactical shooter Thunder Tier One offers a realistic and engaging singleplayer campaign, unfortunately ruined by AI partners who are too prone to ignore orders and cause havoc. The multiplayer is fun and shootouts are hectic, but there's also a distinct lack of modes and the progression system isn't too exciting. We don't doubt Krafton will keep the game patched and updated though.

Nobody Saves the World is a hack n' slash that starts from a quite casual approach, due to the lack of both inventory and skill points distribution, but shows its real depth after a few hours of play, when we are called to experiment with thousands of different builds to to better tear all enemies to pieces. The repetitiveness that generally plagues this kind of games is kept under control thanks to fun quests and a plot that takes us on a tour around a crazy world. Absolutely recommended both for hack n' slash lovers and for those who want to approach to this genre of games without taking them too seriously.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero combines an excellent storyline and an exceptional art-style with a significantly simplified gameplay, which wouldn't be an issue if not for the tons of very repetitive fights that end up constantly interrupting the narrative flow. Perhaps more exploration and less combat would have served the game better, but unfortunately that's not the case.

7.9 / 10.0 - Hero's Hour
Apr 13, 2022

Hero's Hour mixes RPG, roguelike, real time strategy and auto battler elements in one convincing bundle, portrayed with a nice use of pixel art and an impressive number of units on screen. The gameplay loop, however, tends to be a bit repetitive and the lack of a singleplayer campaign doesn't help. Still worth it for its price, though.

8.1 / 10.0 - Revita
Apr 19, 2022

With its unique system of buying perks with hit points, Revita can reward the ones who dare or punish the reckless ones. A twin shooter roguelike in which to experiment in search of the best powerup combos, fast paced and suitable both for those who want to try and try once more for the perfect speed run, and for those looking for a game to play in short sessions, almost in a casual way. Unfortunately, bad luck can be a decisive factor when it comes to success or defeat, since only a handful of the more than two hundred available upgrades are real gamechangers.

8.1 / 10.0 - CRIMESIGHT
Apr 26, 2022

Crimesight is a successful mix between Among Us, Cluedo and Hitman Go that while presenting two quite different gameplay depending on the faction with which you play, manages to make them both equally interesting to the point that I do not know if it is more fun to play the role of Sherlock or Moriarty. Exhausted the pleasant initial surprise, however, becomes a victim of its own mechanics not proposing any variety.

7.2 / 10.0 - The Serpent Rogue

The Serpent Rogue focuses all the experience on resource gathering and crafting, relegating every other aspect of gameplay to the role of a co-primary.

Touken Ranbu Warriors has a combat system that would virtually allow you to complete all missions using, in addition to the directional stick, a single button. However, you would lose the soul of the entire musou and its myriad of attacks one more lethal and spectacular than the other, with enormously charismatic characters to watch kidnapped as they dance breaking lives.

8.6 / 10.0 - Sniper Elite 5
May 25, 2022

Sniper Elite 5 marks the new entry point for tactical shooters, and although it's not a big revolution for this kind of games, thanks to a refined and engaging stealth and sniping approach, as well as the interaction with many elements of the scenario, it offers a fun gameplay in which there isn't a single way to complete missions that require multiple objectives to be fullfilled, all while offering a robust challenge. It's a pity that the game is not especially daring, but it's a fun single player and the online should grant it a lenghty lifespan.

8.3 / 10.0 - Sonic Origins
Jun 27, 2022

Sonic Collection is not only a (guess what?) collection of the first games featuring the blue hedgehog and friends cleverly remastered and with an improved gameplay, but it's also a long platformer – if we consider the Story mode which will take us by hand through all four chapters – which I would recommend also to those who are unfamiliar with the franchise and are simply looking for a fun and fast paced game with colorful graphics and an awesome level design where there's always something new to discover. Highly recommended both for Sonic lovers and newcomers.

8.2 / 10.0 - Keplerth
Jul 4, 2022

Thanks to a constant hint system always suggesting what our next step should be, Keplerth guarantees a casual approach to the usually hardcore survival genre, as long as you select a low difficulty level. Just like in other sandboxes, you decide how to play, choosing whether to run along the main quest or dedicate to hunting, fishing, breeding, farming, expanding and improving our base. By activating permadeath the gameplay gets as tough as the meanest roguelike and it's worth a try.

8.4 / 10.0 - Hell Pie
Jul 27, 2022

In Hell Pie there was the risk that all efforts made in the creation of a crazy and irreverent storytelling could detract energies and resources from the actual gameplay development. Luckily, devs did not get lost along the way and what we have here is an excellent 3D action platformer, which also entertains us with its demential humor without falling into the trap of being little more than a collection of crass jokes. There are some minor flaws, but nothing major.

Endling - Extinction is Forever is, first of all, a survival adventure for everyone since the difficulty setting is deliberately easy, so everybody will be able to enjoy the game at its fullest. The story is compelling and it deals with a pressing issue, exasperating the drama, but never declining into the banality of the so-called "educational games" thanks to the excellent storytelling. The artistic side is also awesome, and we can say that if extinction is forever, a diamond is forever too, so the game can be considered a small diamond that is worth playing.

Aug 23, 2022

Timothy and the Tower of Mu is a declaration of love for the NES carved in pixels. It's an hard but not frustrating platformer, with lot of contents and secrets to discover. It is unfortunately penalized by an imprecise control system and the lack of configuration options does not help. Players used to jump with precision and timing will ignore these shortcomings, but less experienced players may be put off by the difficulty and be unable to fully enjoy everything Kibou Entertainment created.

8 / 10.0 - Arcade Paradise
Aug 27, 2022

I had forgotten that feeling of joy mixed with curiosity related to the unexpected arrival of a new cabinet in the arcade. Arcade Paradise made me relive this. I really liked a lot of the video games, while others, despite being quite good, simply weren't my cup of tea. But if you love retro/hyper-casual genre you will surely find at least a dozen of games that you will want to keep on playing, no matter if you already completed their quests. The managerial section, despite being an original part of the game, is the least developed feature; this is a video game for players who love more action and less thinking.
