5.5 / 10.0 - VirtuaVerse
Jun 19, 2020

Virtuaverse is a graphic adventure that got Cyberpunk in the aesthetics but not on contents and themes.

7.5 / 10.0 - HyperParasite
Jul 13, 2020

Hyperparasite is an arcade that sounds like the good old times. Tough, very tough, but really addicting, expecially in co-op.

Curse of the Moon 2 is the perfect Classicvania, a Dracula's Curse with a crazy pixel art and a bossy boss design. In short, way better than Ritual of the Night.

Jul 12, 2021

It is true that there are works capable of going far beyond what the Silver Case and The 25th Ward did, but it is also true that it is extremely difficult to find two works held together by such a valid internal coherence and, above all, such a high level of character writing.

7 / 10.0 - Eldest Souls
Jul 29, 2021

As lovers of the narrative aspect of Hidetaka Miyazaki's work more than the high level of challenge regardless, we struggled to fall in love with Eldest Souls. Because, while somehow attempting to mimic the fragmented writing cleared by From Software, this experiment fails to be evocative in the same way. The debut of Fallen Flag Studio speaks more the language of those who are desperately looking for challenges, but risking to leave out all those who in such a title are looking for something more than such a smugly hardcore approach.

8.5 / 10.0 - Cuccchi
Aug 15, 2021

Cuccchi is available on Nintendo Switch and Playstation, as well as on the website of the Enzo Cucchi Archive and the main mobile stores. According to the words of those who Cuccchi thought, conceived and created it, it will be constantly updated with other works of the master and, therefore, new worlds to explore. After all, it is an archive in videogame form that will be composed over time to make the production of Enzo Cucchi immortal, becoming at the same time a work of art in its own right.

6.5 / 10.0 - WRC 10
Sep 5, 2021

Ultimately: does it make sense to buy WRC 10? The price is quite affordable, with its € 50 for the next-gen and Switch versions (coming in the coming months) that drop to € 40 for the PS4 and One versions, so if you are not already in possession of other similar titles and you are looking for some fun in drift it actually makes sense to jump on this new chapter of the series. The situation changes drastically if you get from WRC 9. WRC 10 is almost more of a reskin of the previous chapter that on a practical level really adds too little to distance itself from the past, with the sole exception of the 50th Anniversary mode, which is quite clear that it was the main focus of the development team during the work.

9 / 10.0 - Eastward
Sep 14, 2021

Eastward is not only the dazzling debut title of a very small development studio in Shanghai, just as it is not just a video game that closely resembles the best Zelda 2D in history. Don't call it Zelda-like: not because it's not a formally correct definition but because Pixpil's creature wants to be something more than the classic declaration of love to a title of the past. Eastward is one of the brightest examples of what are the true qualities of independent development: a real pearl that deserves to be discovered, perfectly able to carve out its space in the niche of instant cult videogames.

8.5 / 10.0 - Lost Judgment
Sep 16, 2021

Ultimately, Lost Judgment is a great sequel, characterized by inspired writing and a great deal of irreverence. A second chapter more courageous, more refined and extremely more elegant, which offers the possibility of being played by all those who have never had direct contact with the first episode or with the Yakuza saga.

Hot wheels Unleashed is, in some ways, a brilliant arcade driving video game. Simple, immediate, fun and adrenaline just enough, supported by an excellent technical sector and which offers one of the best circuit editors that have been seen in recent years.

6.3 / 10.0 - JETT: The Far Shore
Oct 4, 2021

It was unclear before publication what Jett: The Far Shore wanted to be, which was as alien as its setting. Unfortunately it is not even now. It is a reference not at all veiled to the intuitions of No Man's Sky, but having adapted that playful structure to a narrative that exists and has not indifferent apexes. The problem is almost everything in the gameplay, which together with unresponsive controls transforms even the simplest of activities into an exhausting struggle with the game system.

4 / 10.0 - The Good Life
Oct 14, 2021

The Good Life is a product plagued by major problems on the playful and structural side. An extremely lacking title from a technical point of view, which brings to the screen a series of decidedly questionable game design choices, at the base of an adventure that, while trying to tell a story in its own mature way, often expires in tedium and struggles to sustain the interest of the player.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a great wasted opportunity: a triumph of playing cards accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack and a wonderful atmosphere, which however does not have time to breathe and arrives too quickly at the end credits, without expanding its story. An experiment that from the point of view of aesthetics is an absolute success but that becomes too repetitive in playful terms and not very interesting in a narrative key.

9 / 10.0 - Unpacking

9 / 10.0 - Inscryption
Nov 16, 2021

Inscryption is a damn fun card game: a roguelite, a puzzle game and a horror story, and all this is barely enough to describe what on balance are only the first hours of the experience.

8 / 10.0 - Exo One
Nov 24, 2021

Exo One is an anomalous video game. A project that came to light after five years of work that mixes within it an excellent management of physics and a satisfactory movement system, and it does so with an intensity that is sometimes unexpected. Exo One is an acid trip in the icy sidereal void, an exploration of the (un)known universe that pushes you to look inside and confront the immensity of the cosmos, while sliding on the surface of strange and distant alien planets. A very powerful experience, completed in less than three hours but capable of etching itself in focus in the eyes and mind.

6.3 / 10.0 - Aeterna Noctis
Dec 13, 2021

Aeterna Noctis is a product all in all enjoyable, but that wastes the potential in the useless attempt to chase Hollow Knight too closely. The good artistic direction, the excellent combat system and the well-conceived boss fights end up being suffocated by a linear and tedious progression, victim in turn of the desire to want to fill the game with content even when you do not feel any need.

Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is certainly not a revolutionary or innovative video game, but it manages to achieve the goals it had set itself. It is a well-framed and decidedly successful title, which does not hide its obvious inspirations.

Dec 26, 2021

Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo is certainly an ambitious title, but it falls victim to its own intentions. Translating the cinematic language of a seminal director like Hitchcock into a video game is a complicated intent, and the way Pendulo Studio chased him underscores an obvious confusion about the very nature of the adaptation. Vertigo is all form and little content, and qualifies as a narrative adventure a la TellTale with very little to say, especially because of the flatness of its story. A great pity, unfortunately.
