There are 226 levels (not including event islands) so this game is sure to keep you occupied for a quite a while. There is also even a DLC you can purchase for even more levels once you have gotten through the original game. The only drawback that I have with the game is that there is some sort of story that occurs throughout the game but not enough attention is paid to it for me to actually understand what is going on and why. As a cute puzzle game, though, you really cannot find a better one to play!
Paper puns aside, A Fold Apart is a pretty good game that is worth the time and money if you can look past the overly dramatic story. It is definitely one of the more unique games available right now and the puzzles are sure to keep you occupied!
Road to Guangdong is far from the visual novel with an added “zen” driving experience that it claims. This game feels like it was hastily thrown together as fast as possible with little care regarding gaming mechanics. The controls do not respond as they should and even trying to look around is a frustrating, difficult experience that is not worth the time or money, in my opinion. When considering Road to Guangdong‘s price point and all of its flaws, I would definitely steer away from this game.
It’s been a while since I have played the mobile version but it seems like there are a lot of upgrades that make this game so much better than before too, such as the addition of the MyPad (haha!) that gives quests and has an achievement system. It would be great if they added more quests, though, as that part seems a bit bare but the MyApp says “more quests coming soon” so I hope that will be fixed soon! If you enjoy restaurant or simulation games, go on and give Good Pizza, Great Pizza a shot! Just make sure you clear your plans for the day though… You will be finding yourself saying “I’ll stop after one more day” or “I’ll take a break after I hit $300” over and over!
I do not say this lightly but this is literally the best hidden object puzzle type game that I have ever played. It has been available on Steam for some time, but recently moved to Android as well. Let’s hope it will get to the iOS store too! The puzzles are just challenging enough and each one feels unique. I love that it is a longer game and every second of play has just been absolutely fantastic! I hope to see other, similar games from these developers because they clearly put in a lot of time and work to create quality games!
For all of Millie‘s faults, it is seriously a cute game. The hand drawn pictures are adorable. The concept is super sweet as well, down to the collecting of shoes on the levels for Millie’s growing body. I also really like how you can use the stars that you have earned on the levels to purchase power-up bundles in the game’s store. There’s no need for real money to buy anything in the game! With how cute Millie is, I really wanted to like this game. The concept is super neat and it had the potential to be a great game. However, with the lack of any clear instructions and the extremely difficult levels, I did not receive anything joyful from this game. The game left me frustrated, confused, and discouraged.
Overall, Phoenotopia: Awakening is a game that is really worth checking out if you enjoy RPGs. There is a lot to this game that is guaranteed to keep you entertained and pushing forward in the story, especially at its price point. Right now, it is just being released in North America and only in the English language but they already have plans to have a delayed release in the other Nintendo territories a couple weeks after the North American release. If you are not in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, keep your eyes peeled for an official release date for your area because Phoenotopia: Awakening is not a game you want to miss!
Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Strix is a great puzzle game for those who typically get stressed out by puzzles. The scenery is beautiful and there are plenty of options that can help you get through any puzzle without pulling out your hair. I would recommend this game to anyone that wants to be engrossed in a puzzle game without having to worry about the typical problems that come with them. This is an enjoyable entry into the genre if you want to try it out!
The story of Country Tales is definitely cute, but you are not going to play this game for the story. While it is nice that the story adds additional tasks to the levels, such as rounding up cows or getting rid of bandits, it does not really add anything to the game. Overall, it is a fun game to play if you enjoy time and resource management strategy games, but if you are just looking to try out the genre or get invested in a great story-line, it may be better to look elsewhere.
If you have never played a visual novel type game, Jisei: The First Case HD is an excellent start, as there are not a ton of options to confuse someone new to the genre and it is has a very interesting story line. It is also a very short game, as I spent under three hours in the game from start to finish and this included me taking detailed notes about the game. Someone simply focusing on the game could probably complete the game in two hours or less. Jinsei: The First Case HD was my first visual novel game and it definitely has me more interested in the genre and trying out some other games. I will be continue the series as the games come out!
