8.3 / 10.0 - FORECLOSED
Aug 12, 2021

The talented guys at Antab Studio managed to build with limited resources a futuristic and stylistically appealing adventure, a well made and memorable one. It might not be too original and it's got some unpleasant difficulty spikes, but Foreclosed lets us pleasantly play it until the end credits, capturing us in his comic dystopian world.

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - The Official Video Game, like most titles focusing on so many completely different gameplay loops and styles, falls short on truly delivering in any of them. The sheer variety of the twenty different sports presented, the rush of adrenaline of some of the shorter modes, solid online performance, and good presentation makes it a pleasant enough title for fans of the world's most famous torch.

8.6 / 10.0 - Scarlet Nexus
Jul 26, 2021

Scarlet Nexus hits a lot of high notes in its lengthy double-story, spanning almost 50 hours of content. An exciting futuristic world, a surprising and great story, excellent combat, lovely artstyle. What’s not to love? Bandai Namco’s new IP is one of the most interesting JRPGs to come out in a long while, and while it’s certainly not perfect, we’re really looking forward to seeing more of this intriguing franchise in the future.

Subnautica: Below Zero offers a more immediate, accessible and complete gaming experience compared to the first chapter of the saga, providing a more impactful and suitable title for those who do not like too dispersive survival games. To succeed in this, however, many aspects of the original title have been simplified, resulting in a less meaty and varied game. A different experience then, but worth the effort.

9 / 10.0 - F1 2021
Jul 12, 2021

F1 2021 is not the game that will convince those unsatisfied of Codemasters’ approach to the pinnacle of motorsport, as most of the changes seen in this title are iterative. Braking Point, however, is almost worth the price of admission alone, despite feeling slightly undercooked in some aspects: the narrative, the presentation and tension are truly great, and Codemasters’ first attempt at delivering an actual story mode is worthy of praise. Also, a long list of quality-of-life changes and further customizations offered to players makes F1 2021 perhaps the most accessible and complete Formula 1 experience by Codemasters thus far. The jump to the new generation of consoles isn’t particularly noticeable, aside from the 120fps mode, but Electronic Arts’ long-running expertize in sports games is starting to show its fruits on Codemasters’ 13th attempt to bring Formula 1 to consoles, after the British studio’s acquisition by the American colossus. It’s an exciting Formula 1 season, and the future of the videogame version of the sport is in excellent hands.

Cosmic Top Secret is a fascinating, unique and surreal title that immerses us in the secrets of the Cold War in Denmark, all with a personal and intimate narrative. It's not a game without flaws and it's certainly not for everyone, but it's definitely worth a try for those looking for something that's out of the box.

REKT! High Octane Stunts is a cheap and immediate game, without much depth and variety but fun enough to work as a casual filler when we aren't in the mood for more demanding games.

8 / 10.0 - Knockout City
Jun 22, 2021

If the developers manage to increase the variety and fix the few shortcomings it has, we’re potentially looking at one of the multiplayer hits of the next few years. It’s a bit dangerously low on content for it to last, so they need to act quick to deliver. Ball’s on their court now!

8.5 / 10.0 - Hitchhiker

Hitchhiker offers us a unique concept, a memorable story and plenty of creative surprises, captivating us from the beginning to the end credits. Strongly recommended to fans of artistic and experimental indies and deep narrative experiences.

7.8 / 10.0 - King of Seas
May 25, 2021

King of Seas is a satisfying pirate role-playing game, that while not too original, still manages to offer us a fun, unique and recognizable mix, especially thanks to its combat system finding the right middle ground between immediacy and depth.

4.5 / 10.0 - Protocol
May 16, 2021

Protocol may have been an interesting experience in VR, but as a classic game it turns out to be a slow, boring, frustrating, sloppy and repetitive action/puzzle game. It could have been more interesting with a deep gameplay redesign, but as it is, we wouldn't recommend it even to die-hard fans of first-person puzzle games.

5 / 10.0 - Sanity of Morris
May 1, 2021

Sanity of Morris proposes us an interesting concept focused on paranormal and X-Files-style mystery thriller; unfortunately, though, it also puts our patience to the test due to an unsatisfying implementation. Graphically poor and artistically not very apt, with a slow and cumbersome gameplay, you'll have to arm yourself with a lot of patience to get to the end of an already very short story.

8.6 / 10.0 - MotoGP 21
Apr 22, 2021

I have very little to complain about Milestone’s latest attempt to emulate the world of MotoGP and its feeder series. Last year’s already great game has been further improved, with vastly improved graphics and performance on the new consoles, several gameplay and UI tweaks and a handful of brand new additions. The much hyped manual control over a rider after a fall is not quite as exciting as we hoped, but it doesn’t really matter; MotoGP 21 is an excellent rendition of one of the fastest and most exhilarating sports on the planet, proving not only to be one of Milestone’s all-time greats, but also one of the finest biking games in several years. MotoGP videogames are definitely in the right hands, and it’s available now on the Xbox One family of consoles and on Xbox Series X|S.

7.6 / 10.0 - Can't Drive This
Apr 18, 2021

An exhilarating driving party game, where the driver-builder formula can create very funny sessions. It lacks a bit in variety and, even if including a single player mode, it's not for lone players. Definitely suggested if you want one more title to include in your party games rotation.

A meaningful and short adventure, capable of sensibly touching complex topics like loneliness and depression, in a colorful 2D world. Suggested to everyone who likes thought-provoking narrative games.

In short, Monster Energy Supercross 4 is Milestone’s 4th attempt to bring the world of licensed Supercross onto our consoles, and this iterative upgrade does not fix what isn’t broken, mostly just switching out content and applying minor improvements here and there – a rather frequent sight in days where all development is heavily impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions. It does feature a bit more eye-candy if you’re on Series X or S, but nothing too fancy. It may not be the most spectacular or polished racer ever, but there really aren’t many games like this on the market, with the Italian studio once again delivering a solid enough title for bike fans to keep them busy until the next instalment.

7.8 / 10.0 - Taxi Chaos
Feb 28, 2021

Taxi Chaos feels almost shameless in cloning Crazy Taxi's idea and it's lost some of the game's attitude (mainly due to a forgettable soundtrack) in the process, but it ultimately delivers an entertaining experience and a gameplay formula we've missed for a long time, with some nice additions like the city's verticality and the passengers side stories.

8 / 10.0 - Skycadia

A welcome dive back to the Star Fox era, with an entertaining retro-vibed space fighter. Despite a lack of a proper story mode, its Survival mode feels challenging and entertaining till the end.

Sword of the Necromancer doesn't offer too original and memorable art, but it manages to surprise thanks to a very clever game design and an emotional story. A rogue-lite game to try.

RedOut: Space Assault reminds of classic on-rails shooters like Star Fox 64 and Rez, adding much more content and a satisfying spaceship development mechanic. It might not be as memorable as those classics, but it's definitely a suggested get for lovers of the genre.
