After playing this game alone, and with my children, as a parent I can easily recommend it, as it is a title that the whole family can play over and over again while having lots of fun.

80 / 100 - Resogun

With solid visuals, twitch gameplay, and a strange and mesmerizing addictiveness to it, you really can't go wrong by spending time with this game, especially during those times when you need a break from COD, BF4, Killzone, or whatever other mainstream title you may play on your brand new PS4.

At the end of the day I find myself mixed in regards to my impressions of Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympics.  There are some enjoyable events to play, but there are also some that can just be forgotten about, and the control's inconsistency really caught me off guard.  Overall my thoughts were leaning to be more negative than positive, but then I watched my kids play and the smiles on their faces said a lot.  Sure, they still had some issues with the gameplay now and then, but they were enamoured by the visuals and being able to play with the mascot characters they have gotten to know over the years is something they fully enjoyed.  With this in mind, I think I am safe to say that this is not the best game out there, but it is far from the worst, and it can provide kids with some definite fun over the winter months for sure.

Make no bones about it, Forza Motorsport 5 should be a game that you should definitely consider when buying your shiny new Xbox One.

69 / 100 - Powerstar Golf
Nov 29, 2013

At the end of day Powerstar Golf isn't a must own game, but it does stand as a downloadable title that Xbox One owners may want to seriously look at as it offers up a nice change of pace from the big budget launch games during the winter gaming season.

At the end of the day, even with its faults, Ryse is a game that one should experience as it does offer a glimpse of what next-gen can be on the Xbox One.

At the end of the day Spartan Assault is not a bad game, but there are a few hiccups that hamper what could have been.

Platform gaming fans would be silly to pass this one over; however, the rest of you may want to "proceed with caution" as although it is a very good game, it is far from being an easy one to master.

85 / 100 - Titanfall
Mar 13, 2014

In the end if you own an Xbox One, or have been on the fence to buy one, this game should give you the justification to have Microsoft's newest console in your home and have you utter the words "Xbox, Record That" as you play.

While not perfect Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut is not a bad game at all.  Although it can get tough, and can seem repetitive at times, there are far worse games out there.  Those who are fans of space combat games can do no harm by checking out this game on the Xbox One, and those who haven't delved into the world of space combat to date should take a close look at this title too, as there is some fun to be had.

89 / 100 - Mario Kart 8
May 22, 2014

There is no doubt that Mario Kart 8 is a great game, plain and simple.  With the power of the Wii U at their disposal Nintendo has been able to create some really great looking tracks, add a lot more racers for you to compete against, and there is a fairly robust local and online multiplayer component for fans to enjoy.  But don't get me wrong, there is also a bump or two that along the road to greatness as well.  At the end of the day if you have a Wii U you'd be crazy not to pick up this game.  If you're still don't own a Wii U Mario Kart 8 is yet another title to make you realize that Nintendo's "next-gen" machine is capable of great games that the whole family can enjoy.

This is a great start to the Season Pass of DLC and Titanfall fans would be silly not to add these maps into the game.  Although some modes play better in certain maps, the gameplay modes that are available to date do mix well in all three.  Now if Respawn could hurry up and give me even more gameplay modes dammit.

77 / 100 - Sniper Elite III
Jul 21, 2014

At the end of the day Sniper Elite III is a pretty good game.  From large game levels and lots of extra tasks to that non-linear approach to how you can complete said tasks and the ability to play the whole campaign cooperatively, there really is a lot to like. Let's not forget that the gruesome, but cool kill-cam is back too! Sure, the AI can be unpredictable and a bit wonky at times, the competitive online is not that busy, the story can be cliché and there is the odd visual glitch, but in the end it's not enough to overtake all the good.  Many people should find a lot to like here, and fans of the previous two games can come back knowing there is still a lot to enjoy.

90 / 100 - Forza Horizon 2

If you are an Xbox One owner and looking for a racing game that is an open world, fun, and has a lot of replayability while being both accessible to beginners and a challenge racing veterans given the number of gameplay options, then you really shouldn't look any further then Forza Horizon 2.

With great character and level design, and so much to do, there is more then enough to keep anyone busy.  The new trapping of enemies adds a more immersion to an already busy game.  Those returning to Skylands can feel comfortable that this a great next chapter, and those new to the franchise will play a game that will definitely entertain.

90 / 100 - Sunset Overdrive
Oct 27, 2014

Sunset Overdrive is a game that attacks so many senses, in a good way, that you may just find yourself not wanting to stop playing.  From the visual art style, the amount of things to do on your own, to the multiplayer experience that carries over your progress into your single player story, this game just seems to get a lot of things right.

Fans of the series will no doubt feel that this is the ultimate tribute to Master Chief and his adventures so far while those who have yet to experience the Halo franchise will enjoy all it has to offer, but in one simple package.  The added benefit of the Xbox One hardware also makes it better, with improved visuals in campaign and new Halo 2 Anniversary maps, as well as the control options.  Add to this that the amount of extras are long and lasting, and you have a total package that makes for quite a high benchmark for all developers/publishers to meet when considering releasing a collection of a game series.

It's a recycled formula that has worked over and over again and it has left some gameplay issues that should have been fixed long ago (e.g. floaty control or collision detection); however, the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" formula works and for many that will most likely be fine for them.

Ori and the Blind Forest is a title that has set the bar high for modern day "Metroidvania" games.  From the original artwork and the enveloping soundtrack to the pixel perfect control and heartfelt narrative, anyone who plays this game will find themself hooked from the get-go. Do yourself a favour, don't pass on this game, especially for the price, as you'd be missing out on a really great gaming experience.
