Aaron Varshney's Reviews

Breathing in the fresh air of the Somerset countryside in the UK, I have been brought up around technology. Starting on the ZX-81 and the BBC Master, I have gone on to play computer games it what seems forever. An avid games collector of all kinds, the PC is primarily where my heart lies. I have been working on a freelance basis for other companies in the Games (20013), Game Editorial Magazines (Future Publishing 2007, PlayStation Universe 2014), and Web (1999) industries.
6 / 10.0 - Zotrix

Fun to play with plenty of replay value, Zotrix sounds the part but the clunky interface and non-nonsensical controls prove to be frustrating.

5 / 10.0 - Valhalla Hills
Apr 26, 2017

Valhalla Hills tries to bring The Settlers II gameplay up to snuff but while it improves in some areas, it completely negates some aspects on what made The Settlers II so much fun in the first place. Building and autonomy is done decently well but with the lack of continuation and multiplayer makes it pale in comparison. Its price for entry is very worrying too and doesn't help matters.

When Outcast Second Contact was announced I was jumping with glee, one of my favourite games of the 90's finally being remade for the modern age. If only the team had spent more time fixing the performance issues before release.

Unfortunately, Micro Machines World Series has been forced into a corner where its eSports nature, buggy online play, and less than half features of the content of its non-licensed predecessor makes this a hard purchase.

If you've got a few mates together and the drinks are flowing, then this should only be considered as a last ditch attempt to inject some fun into your evening.

For the amount of staff that worked on this game, they do have a good base to work from, but unfortunately there are so many issues that it detracts from being an enjoyable affair. Its sub three-hour gameplay has no replayability at all, and the consistently harsh frame rate dips heavily impact the game.
