Sucker for Love: Date to Die For doesn't do anything completely groundbreaking, but it is perhaps one of the best examples out there of the thing it is doing, and it would be a shame to see it buried in the avalanche of dating sims of admittedly variable quality available on Steam. It's a stylish and well-written visual novel that finds the balance between horror story and love story, while managing to maintain both throughout. But there's more to admire. It's also a fine example of how a black comedy dating sim can simultaneously be an irreverent vehicle to admire the assets of well-endowed anime women and an inclusive experience that not only makes players not typically included in the genre feel welcome, but gracefully and authentically centres an underserved perspective.

The Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a little less consistent when compared to the two collections that preceded it, but it's still doing the good work of bringing a gem of a series to new platforms and audiences at a time when these games otherwise risk being left behind. Whether its slightly shaky attempts to position itself as a stand-alone trilogy will prove an effective draw for new players remains to be seen, but of course it's an absolute must-play if you're already a fan of the series — and if you were drawn into the franchise through the last two remastered collections and haven't encountered these three games yet, you're in for a particular treat.

While my fellow lovers of supernatural storytelling and occult life simulation will get a huge kick out of playing with Werewolves, I doubt it's going to do much to convert those who would rather see The Sims as a slice of life. Fundamentally, this pack doesn't change anything about how occult life states behave in The Sims 4, and they're still going to feel intrusive if you'd rather not have them in your game. But if you are a fan of the weirder side of Sim life, then I have a feeling Werewolves is going to be an essential add-on.

A horror game dating sim that's bloodier than it is romantic, but knows what it wants to be and never fails to surprise.
