Jorge Jimenez's Reviews
Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior is a well-balanced game with enjoyable multiplayer that is a great alternative from your run of the mill first-person shooter. The last Chivalry was easily my most favorite multiplayer diversion last year, and Deadliest Warrior will surprise a lot of people with its visceral and beautifully gory combat.
The game's scope, over-the-top weapons and surprisingly enjoyable story all trump the tedious mission slogs and sluggish controls. The idea of charging headfirst into a slow marching horde of 300 zombies with a flaming sword is still ridiculous and satisfying.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is ambitious in ways you wouldn't figure a Wolfenstein game would be. Machine Games managed to craft an enjoyable intriguing world while keeping the classic tradition of graphic and nonsensical violence. It's a good time.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare breathes new life back into the franchise with a greatly rewarding progression system and fantastic take on player movement. The fun but painfully predictable story glens some enjoyment courtesy of Kevin Spacey's ability to be an awesome jerk in any role that he plays.
Seven: The Days Long Gone is a deep sandbox isometric RPG whose focus on stealth and impressive world design is guaranteed to suck you in. You'll just need to be willing to put up with some rather frustrating user interface issues.
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is an intense shooter that stresses teamwork over running-and-gunning. The chaos on the battlefield truly shows you what it's like to be under fire.
Dead Rising 4 completely streamlines a lot of core gameplay elements of the franchise while still remaining a sadistically fun game to play.
Hitman 2 is a deep, enjoyable stealth sandbox with hours upon hours of content that will keep you coming back for more.
Judgment offers a serious yet fun departure from the Yakuza series that doesn't skimp on the action and drama.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a block-building good time, which offers a fun story and lots of creative freedom to make the world you want.
If you're looking for a challenging game of cat and mouse with exotic supercars and a gorgeous back drop, Need for Speed: Rivals is what you're looking for in spades. Think fast, drive faster. Going slow is for chumps and old people.
MLB 14: The Show is a must have for any baseball fan. Road to the Show alone is worth the purchase and the overall improvement on an already great foundation is what we want to see from sports games.
FIFA 15 managed to bounce back from last year's lackluster performance with subtle changes in the right places. Playing the game brought back the exciting, tense and rewarding experience of scoring a goal again. We're are looking at a step in the right direction towards the next-gen soccer game fans deserve.
Forsaken implements several smart changes for the current season of Destiny 2 along with telling a thoughtful, yet darker story of vengeance. It's a comeback for Bungie.
Frostpunk is a challenging city builder where your decisions have dramatic repercussions on the citizens you're tasked with looking after in a wintery apocalypse. It's a pleasant surprise that is definitely worth your time if you're looking for something different and brutally challenging.
Redout is a great modern revival of a racing genre we had lost somewhere along the way. Die-hard racers who prefer high-speeds and death-defying jumps will for sure want to check this one out.
Titanfall doesn't reinvent the first-person shooter but comes close to nearly perfecting it. All the elements that we've seen fail before in other games somehow fit each other so well in this one. Titanfall accomplishes what it sets out to do: being the killer app the Xbox One needed.
If this is what the apocalypse has in store for us then count me in.
Shadow of the Colossus is an excellent remake of one of the most critically acclaimed video games in history. This should be in the library of any PS4 owner.
The best part about Dragon Age is how you take complete ownership of this world you've invested so much time in. For better or worse, you made this happen with your decisions and it shows. This might be the epic fantasy RPG you've been waiting a good long while for. Hell, it may just be the Dragon Age game you've finally been waiting for.
