Strider is easily one of the best games that I've played this year. This is a title that reminds me of why I got into video games in the first place: for the pure joy of PLAYING. Strider is a fantastic game that I will keep playing and replaying for some time.
This is a great restart for the franchise and should hopefully bring in a new set of fans (like myself). While some of the platforming can be a bit cumbersome and the A.I can be downright moronic at times, this game is a good starting point for future titles that will no doubt refine the mechanics and add to the game's lore. Fans and non fans of the stealth genre should find a lot to enjoy in Thief.
As for myself, it's just another reminder of why grindhouse style media never caught on; It's vacuous and tedious… just like Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.
I think that Hideo Kojima and team have something truly special in store for us when The Phantom Pain is finally released and Ground Zeroes is just a sampling of this.
inFAMOUS: Second Son is easily the best game I've played on the PlayStation 4 and the best example out there of how amazing the current gen can and will be.
There's not much more to say other than Strike Suit Zero is a fun game that fans of anime and space sim games should check out.
Octodad isn't a game that's for everyone but it is unique and for that I applaud it.
Though it isn't the flashiest game in the market, I enjoyed Murdered: Soul Suspect for what it had to offer. I could have done without the demons and some of the mechanics were hit and miss. However, the detective aspect worked nicely and I did feel like a bonafide gumshoe while working on cases. I fear that this game will get lost in the shuffle, especially considering its price and format, but it's certainly a title that more people should be made aware of, even if it doesn't make headlines.
Crimsonland isn't a game that's out to change the world — it's a simple shooter that gets the job done and does it well. With the exception of there being no online co-op, I don't have any major complaints about this game. If you're into super violent twin stick shooters then this is a game you should try out.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the fresh start that the series desperately needed. This reboot of a modern classic has everything folks once loved about the CoD franchise, and lays an exciting foundation for the series moving forward.
Red Dead Redemption 2 impresses on PC with exciting action and stunning, photo-realistic graphics. As with its console counterparts, this is one of the must-own games of the generation.
Doom Eternal tops its predecessor by featuring larger maps filled with secrets, more ultra-violent weapons, and a huge variety of demons to slay. It is 2020's most extreme, first-person shooter.
Final Fantasy VII Remake wonderfully reinterprets the legendary JRPG via modern-day graphics and a tighter focus on narrative and characterization. Unfortunately, it's just the first part of a massive tale.
Marvel's Avengers is a cinematic action game featuring Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, and other popular superheroes. It's packed with cool, customizable loot and punchable bad guys, but the action drags.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues the series’ recent winning streak. This stellar entry boasts an expansive world, many exciting missions, and a tight, character-driven plot that make it one of 2020's best games.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition updates the classic trilogy to modern standards with vibrant visuals and streamlined controls. The collection provides the perfect way to experience the epic saga.
WRC 10's precise controls and detailed graphics wonderfully replicate rally racing, though graphical hiccups occasionally sour the experience.
Outriders offers a deeper narrative than its looter contemporaries, but it's ultimately a run-of-the-mill shooter that leaves no lasting impact.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut offers a new, explorable island and several welcome PS5-exclusive enhancements. It is a worthy upgrade of an already exceptional title.
With Aftermath, World War Z receives new stages, adaptive AI, and a first-person mode that lets you splatter zombies in fresh fashion.
