Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos Reviews
I’m a sucker for Roguelike games. The often simple yet challenging gameplay often leads to many moments of joy to then sheer frustration as you get “schooled” by a particularly nasty boss for the 100’th time. The benefits of Roguelikes is that no matter how many times you die. you grow a little stronger in both character and player as you unlock stats and learn the movements of your foes. Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos takes this formula and sprinkles a world builder on the top. Not only is progress measured by how powerful your hero is, it’s also based on how big your village is.
Overall, Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos is a highly entertaining game that can be enjoyed alone but just feels a bit more alive if you’re able to play it in co-op. A few niggles and odd pacing issues pop up but don’t totally deter away from the entertainment on offer here. Whether you want to play in long or short bursts Rogue Heroes is a delightful adventure worth investing in. It sure takes a lot of inspiration from Zelda but that doesn’t mean it’s not just as entertaining. Nice job. If you want to try the game before you buy there’s a free demo available on the eShop. And for those who have completed their epic quest….. 8!
I enjoyed every minute I spent on this game. Completing it in just over 17 hours, my only complaint is I’m left wanting more. It was a nice, simple game that added a nice touch with roguelike dungeons. I didn’t run into any bugs or game crashes or anything like that as well, so that’s definitely a positive. Being a fan of the top-down style, this game was right in my wheelhouse. Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos checked every box I look for in these types of games and even added some elements that make this style better. If only for a brief time, it was nice to play a game that brought me back to my younger days, those much simpler times. The times where we just enjoyed things for what they were.
