Critic Reviews for Mina & Michi

There are a lot of negatives in this list, but the positives shouldn’t be forgotten. Mina & Michi is cute, short, and a co-op two-player game that can even be played with younger kids. While it is frustrating at times, it did have some things going for it. Overall, Mina & Michi was such a mixed bag of pluses and minuses, I’m not really sure how to feel about it.

Another day, another new release from the console porting experts over at Ratalaika Games (though eastasiasoft are publishing). This time around it’s for Mina & Michi, the top-down 2D puzzler that launched on PC late last year. The game does add a twist to its puzzling antics – players have to control both characters at the same time as they lead them on their little adventure. It’s kinda like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in a way… just nowhere near as good.

Mina & Michi is undeniably cute, but that’s simply not enough. After the charm wears off, its gameplay is just too basic. It might be a good fit for younger gamers who need help, though. Let them control Michi while you do the rest of the work, and they’ll enjoy themselves. If you’re in the market for a breezy action game that you can complete in an afternoon, then check it out. It might be a good fit for speedrunners, too, as it has a built-in clock for that exact purpose.
