Vagrus - The Riven Realms Reviews
Vagrus carves its own path in the crowded genre of open-world RPGs. Extremely difficult, but rewarding in its own right with a unique mix of strategy, management and turn-based combat. This is the one for those seekers of the unique, who can overcome some of its shortcomings and enjoy the great work done by the developers.
The thing is, there’s not a lot of games in the style of King of Dragon Pass. There’s not a lot of games like Vagrus period. Even in the world of indie RPGs, it’s rare to encounter writing so rich, or such an original world. Vagrus is exactly what I hope to get from my indie games, ideas so original that I can’t quite articulate what they could have done better. With immersive music, stylish art, creative combat, and a sometimes baffling interface, Vagrus: The Riven Realms is what you’re looking for if you are tired of versions of the same game, over and over again.
My own impressions on Vagrus - The Riven Realms changed constantly, but ultimately, Vagrus does carve itself a comfortable middle ground that showcases a well thought out, if difficult, experience.
If you're looking for a very different kind of management sim and a steep challenge, Vagrus: The Riven Realms is the game for you.
