Critic Reviews for Book of Travels

In summary, I really wanted to like Book of Travels – it has a lovely atmosphere, a well-thought-out mythology and a genuinely original style. You certainly get the feel that the developers have a sincere love for the world they have created. Unfortunately, it all felt a little empty. My character did plenty of walking without stumbling across anything of real interest. Most frustratingly, it's hard to see how the character creation process alters a player's experience of the game in any meaningful way.

The Book of Travels’ early access offers a great foundation for something that can really be a new blueprint for video games developers to design a multi-player experience without any of the expected toxicity or the frustrating grind.

The game runs as it should, but for $30, there’s so little content that it really isn’t worth the price. The developers are trying too hard to come across as original and offer something unique. That’s true, but unfortunately, you’ll start to get bored after a while. Book of Travels, with its beautiful but empty world, could be a truly great game, but for now, it’s more of a demo than an early access title. I recommend keeping an eye out for any updates. With a little work, the game could build a great and strong community.
