htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary is a gorgeous game and exudes an indie charm that complements its plot, but the countless brutal deaths and obscure puzzles only serve to frustrate. Even with the option to change the control input to the analogue sticks the gameplay is still very tedious and flawed. On a plus note, the game does suppose the use of PlayStation TV, even if you happen to own one this game will probably not improve in any way over its handheld sibling.
Nippon Ichi ventures too far out of their comfort zone.
Despite its flaws, htoL#NiQ is a unique and immersive experience that might be worth your time if you can jive with its awkward controls.
The game is quite enticing during the first run, however, the constant puzzle-solving can be quite tedious at times. The tediousness is exacerbated by Moin’s excruciatingly slow walking pace, taking a long time just to move from one point to another. It is unfortunate that game speed cannot be adjusted. Though the replay value is not high, the game presents amazing auditory and visual sensations. Admittedly, if Nippon Ichi Software develops another game like htoL#NiQ, I would probably play it. However, it must be kept short like this one or else my impatience towards the tedious gameplay may get the better of me.
A beautiful game which if gameplay niggles are improved could be perfection in the sequel
