Critic Reviews for Auto Age: Standoff
Auto Age: Standoff wears its Eighties influences on its sleeve, but doesn't add enough content to back it up. It does offer a decent distraction though, with a bit of fun vehicular combat that harks back to the days of Vigilante 8 and Twisted Metal's PSOne days.
A story might not be what one expects from a multiplayer only game like this; however, there is one and it actually has me wanting more.
I love what the developers are going for here, but it feels like a huge squandered opportunity.
If you're just looking for a car combat game to play with friends in 2017, Auto Age: Standoff won't let you down. If you're looking to play any other way, you'll probably be disappointed by the bare-bones feature set on offer.
Auto Age: Standoff does an excellent job of fusing retro art and music with a modern take on the vehicle brawler game. While a lacking single-player element limits its appeal, the inclusion of bots and local split-screen help ensure that the game has legs beyond the risk of empty online servers.
I still highly recommend this game to fans of similar titles such as Twisted Metal, Destruction Derby or even Rocket League. If Auto Age: Standoff can find a regular player base and continue to update and provide content then this is a game to keep an eye on.
