The entire game is based around exploration, puzzles, and atmosphere. It lives and dies on those three things.
I kept coming back to The Land of Pain instead of writing it off. It is not only an impressive effort from one developer, but it's also inviting to genre fans while being approachable by today's standards. For just $12, it's a solid pick if you're introducing a friend to the genre as well.
A great work of design and audio, brought down and made boring by endless back-tracking, slow walking, and puzzles that don't always make any sense.
