Critic Reviews for Race With Ryan

Putting our opinion on the cynical Ryan phenomenon to one side, the resulting game is nevertheless a slightly below-average kart racer that handles reasonably well but generally underwhelms, from the pitifully small number of tracks to the uninspired, floaty-light weaponry. Give your kids a Mario, Sonic or Crash racer instead; they may be young, but they aren't stupid.

I give kudos to Ryan. He's a cute kid, a millionaire before he's reached double digits, and I wish him the best. But while this title might work as fan service, as a game it's just poor. With only six tracks and numerous other problems, why spend $39.99 when Team Sonic Racing is the same price (or less) on Nintendo Switch? Kids deserve higher-quality than what's presented here.

As a game, its handling and level design redeem it, but the lack of track variety and the disappointing amount of content make it poor value for money. But the value of a youngster feeling like they’re playing a game with their favourite YouTube star? You can’t really put a price on that.

A really fun game for young boys and girls that range from four to eight years old and for any Ryan fan that is out there.

In a genre of game that sets the bar quite high, Race With Ryan is a disappointment if taken at face value, but the plus point is that it’s aimed at the very young gamer and their families, so it is making kart racing to a wider demographic then usual.

Limited variety of tracks and audio inconsistencies don’t really justify the PS4 digital price tag of £39.99 / $39.99 but if you can get a copy for £20-25 you’re onto a great game for the little ones. Looking around the price for each console differs hugely, so it’s worth savvy shopping if you’re looking to pick it up. Overall I can see this game has great potential, maybe a future update with more variety of tracks and better audio balance would make this a great kart racing contender for the kids.

Race with Ryan works well as a fan service. Its mechanics also work as a funracer and even the tracks are well designed. There are just too less of them - only six in the whole game! It can a good game for kids who enjoy playing together but it's really a shallow game.
