Everything is here and had the potential to be proper Terminator cannon being a ‘prequel’ to both films. Instead, we’re left with a game that if it was a colour would be grey. Just there, nothing special, nothing stand out, just part of the colour spectrum, and easily forgotten over brighter colours. (How’s that for an analogy?) however it has its moments and if you can find it for a few quid then it’s probably worth picking up otherwise it’s the perfect game for Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Now.

If you love the franchise as I do, there is some fun to be had in Terminator: Resistance, just go in with low expectations

Terminator Resistance is a mediocre game. This shooter just isn’t satisfying enough to recommend a buy. It has its fun moments and treats the source material well. But if you’re looking for a fun first-person shooter, you’d best look elsewhere. Terminator Resistance is definitely one for the long-time fans. Overall it feels like this game could’ve been better than it was.

Terminator: Resistance fails to save the tie-in production related to the James Cameron saga. Of all the titles released over the years, this is probably one of the best, but it didn't take much. Teyon's video game does not present peaks neither from a narrative point of view nor from a playful one. If we talk about aesthetics then, we hardly reach sufficiency. We are not facing a total disaster, because there is some good mechanics, but it is really too little.

Terminator Resistance is a surprise in many ways, and a pleasant surprise. It sees the light in parallel with the new canonical installment in the cinema but it travels in opposite ways. Although the film establishes a new future that has not satisfied the majority, many of whom believe that it works better as an action film than as a installment of the saga, Terminator Resistance by contrast brings us into that future announced in the first installments, and although it works as an independent game to the setting, it works much better as a Terminator game giving it a plus of enjoyment for all lovers of the saga.

I have found it to be a good game that, without being pretentious, entertains and offers a varied gameplay so that it does not seem repetitive. The story is very well adapted to the universe of the first two Terminator movies and it is very interesting. Don't expect the game of the year, but a title that fulfills the main function of a video game: to entertain and amuse. For anyone who is a fan of movies, especially those with James Cameron in the credits, I would dare to say that he is a must have if he is a gamer in addition to being a movie buff.

Expectations were never going to be too high for Terminator Resistance. Alarm bells always go off when something like this pops out of the shadow of a movie release with little fanfare, but it's remarkable how backward this game manages to be. It elicits no real emotional impact of any kind beyond maybe surprise when you find out this isn't a HD remaster of some forgotten Xbox 360 title, but a brand new 2019 release. The low budget can be forgiven for some shortcomings, but this clearly didn't get the time it needed to compliment said budget's restrictions.

Terminator Resistance: Complete Edition ticks a lot of boxes, the story of what happens post-Judgement Day fills in some of the gaps left by James Cameron’s original works and the first few levels where you are stalked by the machines are absolutely brilliant. It’s unfortunate that the game quickly becomes a by-the-numbers shooter with its baffling AI, bland environments and dull gameplay. The included DLC does help matters a little, with the Infiltrator Mode being a short-lived highlight, but unless you’re a diehard Terminator fan, it’s probably not for you.
