A new update has been released for Borderlands 3, and will introduce a new Takedown to help ring in the New Year.
A new Takedown is coming to Borderlands 3 just in time for the New Year. The event will begin on December 31st, and will run until January 16th. The Takedown will be balanced to the number of players in a party. The event's matchmaking service will be temporarily updated to prioritize getting parties into the Takedown quickly instead of waiting for a full party. This will help those who want to try a Takedown but were reluctant due to the event being scaled to a full party.
The update will also fix a number of issues that Borderlands 3 was having. This includes matchmaking improvements and a number of hotfixes. This includes decreased shields and armor on Maliwan Deathspheres in the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. To balance this, Deathspheres have improved navigation, making them harder to hit. There were also a number of bugs that were fixed. Before the new Takedown releases, the matchmaking service won't transition players into a Takedown until a full party of four is found. Gearbox believes that players would rather wait a little longer for a full party before entering the Takedown. The developer will be monitoring the change and make adjustments as needed. You can read the patch notes here.
This update is being released alongside Borderlands 3's first major DLC expansion, Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot. .The new expansion has players raid Handsome Jack's casino in order to score some awesome loot. Loot includes a new Legendary weapon, as well as eridium and plenty of cash. There will also be new Vault Hunter Heads, Skins, Weapon Trinkets, an ECHO Device Skin, and new Emotes. This campaign will be a part of Borderlands 3's Season Pass, and will be the first of four expansions.
