Black Myth: Wukong was one of the biggest games of 2024, winning various awards and being nominated for Game of the Year, all while being limited to PC and PlayStation 5. However, Game Science’s console release left many fans unimpressed, and the game’s new PS5 Pro patch is unlikely to solve their problems.

According to Eurogamer, the original PS5 version of the game is locked at 30fps with frame generation on top. This doesn’t appear to have changed following the patch, not even while using the console’s Performance mode.

Of course, this mode didn't benefit from any graphical improvements, if we don’t include the new sharpening slider and somewhat stronger ambient occlusion.

Meanwhile, Quality mode is fixed to 30 fps with no generated frames, but, in a curious decision, both the internal resolution and the upsampling (output) resolution seem to have been lowered. Meanwhile, other settings, like shadow quality and draw distance, have been improved.

Finally, Balance mode is, well, balanced. While based on the Quality mode, it lets go of some of its more dental settings to aim for a framerate of 45 fps. Unique to this mode is the 120hz screen support.
