A new mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been released, and it is a classic mode.

Infinity Ward has released the game mode Grind for Modern Warfare. The mode was first introduced in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and has shown up in other titles in the series. It has shown up under other names such as Stockpile and Fracture. Grind combines Kill Confirmed and and Hardpoint, tasking players to collect fallen player's dog tags.

Once a player has picked up dog tags, they have to deliver them to a specified destination in order to receive points. The drop off point is the same for both teams, and will change as the game goes on. More than one dog tag can be picked up at once, but they will all be dropped if the player is killed before turning them in. Dog tags from allies can also be picked up, denying the opposing team the points.

Grind is live now. It will replace the Drop Zone mode. Shoot House 24/7 is also available now, and will take Shoot the Ship's place. Finally, Snowfight has been removed from the game's playlist.

Activision has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the most played entry of the series this console generation. The game has made over $1 billion in sales, and has the most hours played, hours per player, and average daily players this generation. Modern Warfare has surpassed 500 million multiplayer hours played and 300 million multiplayer matches since the game released 50 days ago.

"The momentum for Modern Warfare from day one has been incredible," states Byron Beede, executive vice president and general manager for Call of Duty. "Players are having a great time and are continuing to engage across the multiplayer experience at the highest level in years. We're also seeing new franchise highs for this console generation in hours played, hours per player, and average daily players. It's great to see the fan response to the hard work from our development teams led by Infinity Ward. Players are having a great time, and there's much more to come as we continue to deliver new content."
