Mortal Kombat Kollection Online may be in the works again.
In April 2019, Blind Squirrel Games' collection of the first three Mortal Kombat titles was cancelled. However, the collection may be in development again. A rating from PEGI (Pan European Game Information), the company who rates games in Europe, has been found for Mortal Kombat Kollection Online (via Gemastu). The games were rated for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, and were given a PEGI 18 rating for "frequent strong violenece." You can read PEGI's description for the collection below:
"Mortal Kombat Kollection Online is the original Mortal Kombat trilogy that Mortal Kombat fans always wanted. Upgraded art, gameplay, and online features provide an incredible experience that revive the 'klassics'..."
Warner Bros. has not commented on Mortal Kombat Kollection Online at this time. If the rating is accurate, we can expect an announcement from the publisher soon.
The Mortal Kombat Kollection Online rating comes soon after the release of a trailer for the Joker in Mortal Kombat 11. Through the trailer, we see that Joker will wield a vicious looking cane, and will bring a bag of tricks with him. This includes a jack-in-the-box, extending boxing gloves, and a Batman puppet with a gun in its mouth. The fatality shown for Joker mocks the Friendship finishers that were a part of some of the earlier games in the franchise. It was also shown that a few other characters in Mortal Kombat 11 will receive costumes designed after some of Batman rogues gallery. This includes a Killer Croc costume for Baraka, and a Catwoman costume for Kitana. Joker is the second to last character in Mortal Kombat 11's Kombat Pack, with Spawn following him as the last fighter.
It was recently announced that an animated film based off of the franchise is in the works. Entitled Mortal Kombat: Scorpion's Revenge, the film is being directed by Ethan Spaulding (Batman: Assualt on Arkham) and scripted by Jeremy Adams (Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans). The film is expected to drop during the first half of 2020.
