Fortnite Love and War Challenges Available for a Limited Time

Fortnite has a new limited-time mode (LTM) on offer for all players. In Fortnite Love and War, players break into two teams of six alternately attacking and defending a particular area. Yes, it's basically Search and Destroy but with more flossing and maybe some Star Wars cosmetics.

The matches can be played using up to a best-of-11 scoring system, so even if a match feels smaller and much less dense than the typical modes in Fortnite, it's actually a pretty lengthy version of the classic game mode. The new mode is available until February 17, or the end of Valentine's Day weekend. Hopelessly romantic, isn't it?

Unfortunately, the mode comes via a title update that also introduces a bunch of new problems to Fortnite. As this is the much-awaited patch that introduces the new Unreal Chaos physics system, it seems rumors of the system causing problems turned out to be true. Players have reported bugs of all sorts, such as boats driving on land, assets breaking and stretching, cars made of wood, and broken geometry, leading to players falling through the map.

As Chapter 2 season 2 is nearing its launch date of February 20, the reasons for the ongoing season being the longest ever by more than a month - 128 days long by the time season 2 is here - seem clear: Epic knew they had some bugs to work through in the meantime. They've asked players to use the in-game bug reporting feature should they (truly, when they) come across any problems.

Hopefully the bugs can be fixed ahead of the next season after Chapter 2 burst onto the scene to such high praise. In the meantime, if you're looking for the complete patch notes, you can find them on Epic's website. The new season of Fortnite finally kicks off in just two weeks.
