Limited Run Issues Recall For Rugrats Cartridges That Might Brick Your NES

The Rugrats returned to the video game world last year via the release of Rugrats: Adventures In Gameland. The retro nature of the new game meant Limited Run Games was able to create a NES version, complete on a cartridge compatible with Nintendo's first console. However, LRG has this week issued a statement urging owners of the cartridge not to use it with a NES as there's a chance it'll not only break the game, but brick the console.

In an email to those who ordered the game (shared by videogamedeals), or in some cases are still awaiting pre-orders, LRG explains it was made aware of issues with the Adventures In Gameland cartridges and, following its own investigation, can confirm that in some cases, an issue with voltage regulation can damage the game and possibly break the NES being used to play it.

A Sonic Adventure expansion for its Dreamcast TCG, a Big the Cat fishing hat, and so much more.

The same issue has been identified with NES cartridges for PioPow which were also issued by LRG in 2024. LRG attributes the root of the problem being the manufacturer that created the cartridges not being the same one...
