The popular horror title R.E.P.O. has apparently made its way to the PlayStation 5 store, but despite being one of the top trending games on the platform, players should take a closer look before making any purchases. Recently released into Steam Early Access on February 26, R.E.P.O. is a physics-based, co-op horror game in the same vein as titles like Lethal Company and Content Warning, allowing groups of up to six players to try and retrieve valuables while avoiding monsters.
As reported by PlayStation LifeStyle, however, the "R.E.P.O Horror" game currently trending on the PlayStation Store is not the same R.E.P.O. that's currently on Steam, despite sharing almost identical titles and cover art. In all likelihood, R.E.P.O Horror is the latest in a recent trend of "fake" games popping up on various gaming storefronts, trying to trick players into making purchases by capitalizing on the popularity of other, more popular titles. The original R.E.P.O. is the work of indie developer Semiwork, while R.E.P.O Horror is listed as being developed by West Connection LTD.
