Rainbow Six Siege is introducing a brand-new permanent game mode, and it flips some of its most engrained mechanics on their head.

In Dual Fronts, you’ll be free to pick from a pool of both defender and attacker operators, as you fight for control across two distinct lanes.

Coming as part of the larger Rainbow Six Siege X update, which will also see the game go free-to-play, Dual Fronts shares a lot of its identity with MOBAs. It has a similar lane-based design, and forces your team to pick between pushing on one lane, defending on another, or going for extra missions in the central, neutral zone for an advantage.

The goal of each map is to plant hacking devices in each of the opposing team’s zones. Successfully clearing the first point opens up the next one, forcing you to venture further into their territory as the game goes on. In general, matches last around 20 minutes.
