In case you missed it, Onimusha is back. After years of dormancy, Capcom announced its intentions to revive the iconic action-adventure series in December, when it revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword — the first true Onimusha game since 2006.

Not only will there be a new Onimusha game, but it has also been revealed that Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny will be getting the remastered treatment and will be released later this May.

In other words, Onimusha fans are eating good. And now, via a new Famitsu interview with producer Akihito Kadowaki and director Satoru Nihei, more information about Way of the Sword has been revealed, including the game's length.

To start, you will not need to have played any of the past Onimusha titles in order to understand Way of the Sword. "As this is the first new Onimusha game in about 20 years, we have completely re-examined, reinterpreted, and reconstructed the world setting, including the Genma and Oni clans," Nihei said. "Therefore, there is basically no connection to previous games."
