Hidetaka Miyazaki, The Duskbloods’ director, has confirmed that the game will feature more than a dozen playable characters. At the start of each match, players will be sent to a central hub, where they can select their character before joining an online match. Miyazaki has also revealed that all the characters in The Duskbloods will have unique lore, abilities, and skill sets and will be customizable.

Another newly confirmed detail about The Duskbloods is the meaning behind the title itself, which is tied to the playable characters. The Duskbloods is the collective nickname given to the protagonists, who are individually known as Bloodsworn. The Bloodsworn are vampire-esque warriors doomed to fight in a cursed loop known as the Twilight of Humanity and their supernatural blood grants them extraordinary abilities, expressed through unique gameplay mechanics.
